Thanks for all of the encouraging words. Yes! I realize that driving off with the stand down is not only dumb but could be very danderous. I bet I don't do that again!!
I guess that I was lucky in the fact that I had friends with me to help pick it up and the riders that were there not from our group were like most riders. They were willing to help a fellow rider when in need.
Gravity, got to love it when combined with an 800 pound beast that has a high tip point. I had been out of biking for 37 years when I purchased my EGU, Had it for 72 days and tipped it twice. Looked like Artie Johnson in Laugh In. glad I learned the pick up maneuver.
I dropped on doing a U-turn. Cranked it around a little too much with not enough clutch pressure and down she went, right in the middle of the road with oncomming traffic about 500 yards away. I quickly used the back to bike pick-up technique and got it up on two wheels long before traffic got close. Nothing hurt but a small mar on the fairing and a big bruise to my pride.
Welcome to the club. Glad you didn't get hurt. We were riding with an older couple last year going thru town and we came up to a stop light. Luckily I was a tad behind him because when he stopped he forgot to put his feet down and tipped over in slow motion. I stopped behind him and almost tipped mine over trying to get off in a hurry to help him get his back upright. No one was hurt and no damage to his bike, only his pride.
I've joind the club after about 30 days of Ultra ownership. I had the wife on back when it tipped slow to the left while making a slow turn. It hit the highway peg and saved it. I tried to hold it from going over and learned my lesson. My body hurt for 2 weeks.
I dropped mine 2nd week that I had it. I was in a parking lot looking for a spot to park when some momo cut across some parking spots without looking just as I made a turn to the right. I grabbed the front brake and down I went. He asked if I was alright, I muttered that I was and he drove off. I was too pissed at myself to do anything else. Just picked up my bike and vowed to stay off the front brake when in a parking lot.
