Default Lost my bragging rights

Four years and 42 K miles and I can no longer say "I have never dropped mine".
Comming home from Bikes, Blues & BBQ I dropped it at a gas stop. After gassing up I started to move the bike away from the pump and as soon as I got moving, I realized that the Jiffy stand was down and dragging. I tried to pull it up while moving but when I put my foot down it came to rest on top of the stand. I got the bike stopped but the stand was no longer in the locked position and my foot was hung up on the stand. By the time I got my foot free and on the ground, it was all over. I got my foot down but it was too far gone for me to hold. None of my buddies could get to me in time. It went down soft with no damage to anything except my bragging rights. All of the guys that I was riding with and the guy on his way back home to Chicago that helped pick it up (don't know your name but thanks for the help) have done it at one time or another so it's no big deal but I enjoyed saying that I had never dropped mine.

It's going to happen to anybody that rides long enough. I came close last month because of some gas that had spilled on the ground by the fuel pump. Man that stuff will make your shoes SLICK!

4 years, not a bad streak.
I've been riding for 30, my personal best was about 6 years. Currently going on 2.

These heavy baggers can be quite humbling at times! Once they tip beyond a certain point you are not going to stop them from laying down. Both gas stations and garages are probably the most frequent places for dropping big bikes. Shake it off to experience and, welcome to the club.

Don't feel bad. I've had my RK, first bike ever, since April, and went down twice in the last 10 days. First, going 45mph into a blind right curve on two lane road two emergency vehicles coming at me in MY lane, lights and sirens going. I get on front and rear brakes hard, ABS was great came to a clean straight stop. The problem was I was on the white line at the right side of the road and it was 8 inches from the pavement to the gravel shoulder. My momentum was to the right and I put that foot out looking for the ground. I found it 8 inches later as the bike just rolled onto the crash bars. A couple of guys stopped and helped me get the undamaged bike up.

Next week OL and me were out for a ride. I missed a turn and pulled over on a very wide paved shoulder. I came to a stop too fast and the bars were cocked to the left. As I stopped the bike immediately started to drop to the left and I couldn't hold it up. OL jumped off and my pride took a beating. Got the bike up, undamaged again and finished our ride happily.

I knew that it would happen sooner or later but I still hated to have it hit the ground.

It is great the way your friends and strangers jump up to help when you have a problem.

When I 1st got a Glide I couldn't figure out what the hell is wrong with me, rarely dropped a bike and then within the 1st 6 months of owning the new FLHT I dropped it twice. My buddy, who only had Soft Tails up to that point used to make fun of me. Till we were at a campground and he went to move my bike and I here him yelling for help. Yep, he laid it over with his leg under it lol. He didn't think it was so funny after that.

Welcome to the club. Once it goes past a certain point, let it go. A friend of mine tore his bicep trying to keep his bike up.
