I need to remove my primary to repair/replace transmission shift shaft or lever, not sure if I can possibly repair the lever until I pull it all apart. Have the service manual and just ordered the primary locking wedge. Looking for any tips or tricks that might help the process along.
Ya don't needto order a primary lockin wedge.
Cut a piece of 2x4 and cut he end of it at a 45* angle, it will wedge in the compensatin sprocket or the ring gear so you can take it off.
For the shaft on the trany, git a long deepwell socket. Cut it in half and weld a piece of square tubine inbetween it to make it longer.
It would be nice to have some 3/4 " sockets and a long breaker bar and some buddies.
And you know you need some seals.
I have not used this product but have seen it in a few publications.
Seems pricey but looks like it would require less removal of parts.
Cost $160, has a few videos. http://betterlever.com/how_to.php
