I have done a little research in upgrading stock cams from 2010 96" engine I realize I need upgrade of ecm for the fuel injection and so forth but would like to know what cams to go with it was recommended to me the S&S 510 but would like to know what other opptions might be out there. I don't need it to be to aggressive just don't want engine to fall on its face. What I mean is rolling along at 80mph twist wick and it falls on it's face my older bike with carb I hopped up years ago I can roll at 80 twist wick and it still rolls on but new bike falls on its face any info and suggestions are welcomed Thanks
I have been looking at the SE 255 Harley cams for my 09.
My dealer says they can do a download for it and that would be all it needs with the cams.
The 255's get some great reviews here on the forum , and the stock chain drive will be just fine for durability.
Do a search and see some writeups and comparisons on these cams.
Seems as they are pretty good low RPM torque cams for stock engines.

I have SE 204 in my 2010 96 and am pleased at power from 2500 rpm's on up to 5500 rpm's. runs real good from 50 mph up to 100 mph. I don't ever ride over 100 mph. PCV, vance and hines duals, hi flow breather. Not a dragster, but that is not my style. Mostly highway riding. I'm not a wrench, but am very satisfied. Dyno'ed at 90 hp and 99 tq. But who knows about those numbers, seem little high. Bike is a pleasure to ride.
I recently upgraded to an Andrews tw26 in a '05 TC 88. Tonight I was on the highway with my friend and his '011 TC103. We rolled em on at 80mph and ran right up to 110. I was surprised that I had no problem keeping up. Before the cam I had never gone over 100. I can only imagine how a cam would feel in a 96 or 103 inch motor!
I did the cams alone upgrade for my 96" motor, it helped but it still would not really perform like I thought it would. It just did not have that pull you are talking about. So after several months I decided to go with a 103 piston jug upgrade. Now that made the difference that I was looking for. The Ulta's are a beast of a bike and I feal they need this added torque, I am not into speed at all............ The sig. shows what I have done to mine.......With the last dyno numbers.............
Hey Bear.
Welcome to the forum.
Lot's out there on this subject. If you read it all, you won't have time to ride for at least 5 years. ;-)
Just make sure you put the torque in the rpm range you like to drive in.
Lots of guys are running the SE255s in their 96" baggers. You'd get a nice torque boost, especially in the lower rpms. I don't know anyone running S&S 510 cams in the 96 motors, but a friend has them in his 95, and his bike is a very strong runner. I'm running SE204 cams in my 103, which are very, very similar to the S&S 510.
