Quick question here...
I have done a search and wasn't able to find the info I'm needing...
I have a buddy that has a 03 FLH standard...
I have a set of 06 silver faced gauges he would like ti put into his fairing...
Will the gauges interchange on a 03 or does that start on the 04's for interchange ability?
Also if they will fit does his present wiring harness have the other 2 plugs so he can get all the 6 gauges to work rather then just the 4 gauges he presently has?
Thanks
paul
Paul, there will be a problem with the speedo and tach. The '04 and newer bikes use serial data from the ECm for the speedo and tach; the '03 doesn't. It's been a while (probably a couple of years) since I checked the difference between the '03 and newer wiring diagrams but, that's the big problem with retrofitting the '06 gauges on pre-'04 models.
If your buddy has the Service Manual for his '03, and you have one for your '06 or newer model, you can check the wiring diagrams. IIRC, the '03 gets vehicle speed information from the Vehicle Speed Sensor, and the tach uses the Crank Position Sensor. Don't know if the '03 provides any serial data.
