With all the talk about the noise I have to say I am very happy with the new tranny. I have logged about 1700 miles on the new bike and am very impressed with the torque in 5th more than any other gear. Cant believe people drive around trying to LUG the motor to try to hear a noise . Have not heard one comment on the additional torque the new motor and tranny combo provides I personally love it this is the best running bike I ever rode .You have to remember that everything is turning inside on the shaft all at once in 5th {a straight cut gear} I was wondering has anyone had a breakdown or problems shifting ? I think not , just bitching about the noise . Until then ride your new bike and enjoy it why worry about it unless there is a real problem.? You have a two year warr. so if there is a problem down the road you know H-D will fix it for free just like they always do , it happens all the time. It seems to me people are shifting into 6th too early , having 6 gear does not mean you have to use it all the time . Think of it as overdrive , I sometimes keep it in 5th cruising at 65 m.p.h. for the extra torque.
Im diggin it too. Different riding than my road king. I had to get used to the gearing. But one thing is for sure I never run out of gears. Glad I got the 07.

See, what most people don't know is that the noisy 5th gear is a FEATURE, not a bug. The extra noise has been built in to let those of us that don't have tachometers know when we are in 5th gear and need to upshift to the new 6th gear. So what's all the complaining about!?
Did 373 miles today through the mountains two-up and there is no comparison between this SG and my 2005 RK Custom. This thing cruises up the inclines with no effort.
Stopped right before the house to fill up one final time and it took 3.6 gallons with the trip odo saying I had gone 166 miles since the last fill up in Camp Verde. That works out to 45 mpg on the freeway.
