Mastertune vs PC V
2008 stock FLHX. Installing Slip-on's. Stage 1. Not sure, however, to use a Mastertune or PC V. Local HD Dealer only recommends Mastertune with 3 -4 hours of Dyno. Very Expensive. However, I am very interested in Fuel Moto's Power Package using the PC V. Definitely save some money. What are the pro's/con's, advantages/disadvantages, of using Mastertune versus PC V? Purchasing Fuel Moto's Power Package would not require the dyno. Would a Mastertune with Dyno really improve or enhance my performance. Especially since this is basically a stock bike? Thanks.
This is really a no-brainer...go with the PC-V.
Your bike is stock, so there isn't much more performance to be had by running a programmer on a Dyno 3-4 hours at $125 per hour.
The PC-V (as everyone will attest to) is the most favorable option to get the BEST performance possible with tried and true pre-programmed maps based on whatever mods you do have (Stg1 A/C, etc). The PC-V is available from Fuel Moto the sponsor of this site. Give them a call...you will be happy you did.

Ahhh, the age old discussion........
The TTS wont require a dyno tune unless you feel you the need to pay for one to eek out every little bit. And it doesn't stay on the bike. The PC V is a good choice and many have been happy. They both have great support and will work great with the minor mods you have with little or no tweaking. Any dealer will tell you you'll need a dyno tune and charge accordingly. It's all in what YOU feel you need. Personally I like being able to plug my laptop into my bike, load a map and be done with it. Worked great for 3 yrs now. Either way you'll be happy.

I went with TTS Mastertune. Just me but I didn't want an add-on part sitting under my seat. Why not just reprogram the stock ECM?
I installed the recommended calibration and the bike runs great.
Have you seen the Youtube video on how to install Mastertune?
Yes, it really was that easy!

I prefer a Mastertune. I see my friends have problems with 4-5 year old power commanders. That can't happen with a mastertune. The factory ecm is built to a higher standard than power commanders...
I've read enough good things about both that I'm sure either would work well in the hands of a skilled tuner.
My own story. My RK never ran right with the PCV, kept pinging despite considerable map tweaking. No local access to a good Powercommander tuner so I had to rely on canned maps.
When I went to a 103 my HD shop dialed in the bike using Mastertune, the factory diagnostic machine and an hour on the dyno. The bike runs great.
