Apes are easy. Especially on the RK. Depending on the bars, cables and grips you get your looking at 5-700 in parts. I soldered my TBW wires with no issues. The extensions are easy. Does your bike have ABS? If you do only do one section at a time. You can do that without taking it to the dealer to bleed.

Forgot, make sure you do the poly bushings.

I put 16" bars on my 2009 RK and had no problem at all with the TBW. I soldered all my extensions and had no issues with impendance. I'm not a mechanic and have NEVER soldered a wire in my life up to this point. (I even had to go out and buy a soldering gun for the job). I spoke to an electrical contractor who gave me a free roll of the proper gauge wire and advice. Take your time....be patient....and mark everything that you disconnect....Take pictures.....It's amazing what can be forgotten in 24 hours.

+1 on the poly bushings unless you like 3" of 'play' in your bars

I didn't leave the forum.... I had a softail last coule of years. Warden hated it. I had an 09 RG for like 6 weeks but the fairing just added to much weight for my ankle (6 pins, crushed talus bone) but I have no weight issues with the RK, it's about 40lbs heavier than the ST. So far so good. Went that route to save up for this bike.

Poly bushings are a must for sure...

No ABS

If you plan to internal wire the bars, save yourself a lot of pain and buy the TBW unit with extended wires and NO plug in the middle. That green plug can be a nasty bastard when you are trying to stuff that wad of wires inside the bars (especially if you are doing this for the first time).

I would also put a dab of hot glue on the connectors just to be on the safe side that something won't happen to cause them to vibrate apart or whatever inside the bars.
