As the title says, a heartfelt thanks to the two guys (one in biker T shirt and another who looks like a painter) who ever helped me pick up my Glide today at a traffic light. A split second of following too close and some one stopping too fast caused me to very gently lay it on it left side.
Not a scratch on me or the bike but very humbling to say the least. Ever notice that cap only happens in front of people. I tried to pick it up but being over 60 and not a large guy 850# was like and anchor.......Thanks again if you are reading this!!!
I stopped this past saturday to help a couple guys on the interstate who were broke down ,turned out one had a flat front tire and tire was ruined ,they had already called a tow so i left them knowing they were on top of it (although 30 minutes later i thought "dammit i could have trailered that dude to the H-D shop" ) but what really got me was they said 2 kansas state troopers had passed right by them before i stopped i believe in karma and try to help anytime i can !
We were waiting by our bikes as we watched a guy with passenger trying to get up the small incline on the driveway of the restaurant. He stopped at the top to wait for traffic and immediately the bike started rolling backwards and falling over at the same time. His passenger jumped off (proper thing) but gravity was having its way with the bike. Startled at first, but quickly sizing up the situation, the 2 of us ran over to help right his bike, a softail something, beautiful looking bike. I am not sure he thanked us but that's ok he was embarrassed. However, someone in a cage had watched the whole thing and thanked us. Nice. We just wanted to help a fellow traveler.
Yes there are considerate people still out there. I hope people think I’m one of them.
Those crash/engine bars sure help out on slow falls, don’t they?
2) I have these on my bike - they work! http://www.pro-guards.com/ No scratches to remind you of those embarassing moments, or to have a prospective buyer think the bike's been down.
