If youre hinting at me, then KMA!LOL It's bad a FEW have a issue but there are many many more that have not and they have posted it over and over, so to keep telling everyone this is a problem of the 07 touring is just plain BS, its a isolated problem only a few are having compared to those that are not. Oh, and 3k in 6th is lugging this longer stroked 96" motor.

I know some of these experts have 07's on order. If they get lucky and get a quiet one then they will be struting around like proud peacocks saying "I told you so", but it they get a clattering one then I be they keep their mouths shut and we won't hear a word, not even an "Oops, I'm sorry".
I think a survey is in order, just to show gumrubber, hes wrong,, I have a rough count of about 15-20 peeps just in here with the famous prob...isolated my ***
There is definitely a difference among the 07 transmissions. A couple of weeks ago I posted about my 07 Street Glide transmission and rear wheel locking up at 25mph from a broken off dipstick that clogged the gears. This original transmission had no whine in fifth gear, but did make the clatter noise in 5th below about 2200-2300 rpms. Above 2300 rpms everything sounded great. A few days ago I got my bike back from the dealer. They replaced the entire transmission including gear set and cases all under the warranty. This second transmission, unlike the first, has absolutely no clatter. Unfortunately, every time I shift into 5th the transmission whine yells out and sounds like I'm stepping on a cat. All these differences are with the exact same bike, rider, riding style, weather conditions, etc. So now I don't know whats going on.
On another note, since getting the bike home, It's running even hotter. The pipes had been covered with the usual ugly yellow splotches under the heat shields. Now after the transmission lockup and sudden engine stoppage, the pipes are bright neon blue and the heat shields are turning yellow for the first 12 inches near the heads. Yesterday I put on an oil temp gauge and I'm getting readings of 300-330 degrees in easy 60mph cruise conditions. Does anyone have any guesses why the engine temp would rise after a transmission swap or due to the sudden engine stoppage? Could there be some extra friction going on from a possible bent crankshaft or bent valves?
5th gear whine is not a problem, maybe clattering gears is but 15 out of hundreds is still isolated, electaPRICK

I sure hope its not widespread, and have probably made it sound like the whole touring line. This was done from my own experiences with what dealers have been saying as well as C/S.The Normal thing.I do believe the build date plays into this somehow.I have seen 3 exact problems w/the 8-06-06 build, does it run earlier and afterwards?Im not sure.My posts were basicly for people who have had this noise and were given the lame answer as well as the treatment I have received during this time.I have posted all that I have done and and what I have found out. Many havent thought of listening to their bike and w/stereos this noise wouldve been even harder to hear.I also posted for those w/o that many miles yet, although mine started around 130 ticks on odometer.Im not here to slam HDs new line only the one they sold to me.
Gunrunner--I do not lug my engine! If I do ask the engine to make a lot of power or even just a little more the sound I hear best described as clatter goes away. When put "under load" the sound does not exist. Therefore it does not exist when lugging it. I have had all the exhaust heat shields off the bike and repositioned today. The result--sound still their in sixth but slightly different in nature and now can recreate in fifth in same light load conditions. I am using Supertrapp slip on's and the bike makes a lot of torque down low for a stocker and the power pulses may have some effect on possible exhaust rattle but I heard the same think when brand new and driving home from the dealer.
Guys--I like this bike and it will get figured out--I still have a little whine in fifth but not really a problem--these gears will wear in. These trannies are built pretty heavy duty they need to wear in but the rattle or clatted can be irritating. I still am not convinced it is trannie--it sounds like metal banging on metal.
