OK I am gonna chime in here. I traded my 09 EGC for my 11 RGU 103. New it sounded great, but was quiet, so I added a stage 1 and pipes with a tuner. It ran great, but @2800-3000 rpms it would rattle and ping when just slightly adding throttle to go up a hill on the highway etc. Jamie @ Fuel Moto sent me another map that was richer and took out 2 degrees advance that was in his original tune in the area I was having problems. It ran noticeably better, but wasn't gone all the way. I tried a lot of things and called and talked to Kieth. No matter what I did, I could not get rid of it. I checked my compensator, checked for exhaust leaks, rode without heat shields, readjusted and then had to reset my primary tensioner...Long story short... I added 4% more fuel in the 3250 range, like Jamie did between 2.5-3K between 15-60% throttle . Then added some top end fuel additive, took it out on the interstate and ran the **** out of it, running at about 5200. Got off the interstate and it stopped pinging. Rode this morning and it was a pleasure to NOT hear that rattling/pinging noise right where the bike makes its torque. This is recent, so I am monitoring it now. I am thinking it had carbon build up from babying it all the time, and was running just a tad lean for my riding style around 3K. I dunno, but it has stopped. Hopefully I don't have to keep adding additive, but at least I know what it is.

Update
Looks as though, after adding a SE Stage One, V&H Fuel Pak and V&H slash cut slip-ons, my problem is gone. Been riding it the past few days and have not heard a single ping! Should have done this right from the beginning!

Isn't that the same as the TFI? Looks like it is rebranded.

On the last 05 EGC I had it started pinging at about 30k miles. I have 18k on my 09 so far and haven't noticed any pinging, maybe I can't hear it over the lifter noise. I have 3.5 years of warranty left so if it's going to blow up I hope it does it before then
