Default '06 Street Glide Issues

Recently added SE touring mufflers and hi-flow air filter to my Street Glide and decided to go with the basic download. As long as I was taking it in, I insisted that the dealer swap out the 8-degree injectors in favor of the 25-degree units, upgrade the stereo software, replace my fork lock, and check my front motor mount which I was sure had failed. They agreed to all of my requests but told me they did not have the parts to do the fork lock. I dropped off the bike after work last Monday and was told that they had decided to 'steal' the fork lock parts from a different bike...'cool' said I. Tuesday morning, I got a call from the service writer telling me that my front motor mount was indeed shot and that the bike also had an inner primary leak. They said that all of the necessary parts were in stock so the bike would still be done by the end of the day. All the work was done as promised and I've put about 600 miles on the bike since last Tuesday with no trouble whatsoever.

Although it seems like every problem that has been discussed on this site with regards to the '06's has happened on my bike, I gotta say that the way my dealer addressed the issues, along with the 2-year warranty from the MOCO really made this less painful than it could have been. I now have the upgraded fork lock, upgraded injectors, new software for the stereo, a new and improved motor mount, and new inner primary seal and didn't have to pay a penny. I know these problems can be frustrating at times, but all in all, I'm very happy with the way my 'new and improved' bike is running.

Be glad your dealer was so willing to jump on it for you. I had one dealer do everything possible not to change the injectors. Finally got feed up with them after the spokes issue I had and took it to the dealer that was actually closer to me. They finally replaced the injectors (no questions asked) and retuned it which took care of the backfiring problems. It is crazy how some dealers are so easy to work with and others are just a pain in the A$$.

It's really refreshing to read something possitive for a change. Thanks for sharing.

I guess there are some a@*hole dealers, but the ones ive delt with have all been willing to do what it takes to keep my business, I hear the "STEALER" crap thrown around by a bunch of people, its funny because I have a friend that owns a Yamaha/suzuki/kawasaki dealership and they dont give a crap about you at all unless you bought it from them and then you dont get near the help harley dealers give. Another thing is metric parts are most times way higher than harley stuff too.

Yeah, I was worried about this also because the same dealer wouldn't change the injectors when I asked them to last year. Since then, the MOCO has put out a service bulletin on the 8-degree injectors and my dealer agreed to change them as soon as I mentioned it. I don't know if it was easier this time because the bulletin exists, or because I mentioned the bulletin.

Maybe I missed it..I want to go to my dealer and get these issue corrected, but I feel I will need to show some "proof" for warranty.

Repairs under bullitens are covered without regard to your warranty, as long as you have the included model its no problem

Solo,

What kind of problem were you experiencing in regards to your motor mount? I've gained quite a bit of vibration in my floorboards since I added my true duals and have thought up to now that was the culprit. I did get a good tune and the bike runs great but the increased floorboard vibration is a bit annoying, even though I'm getting used to it. It is primarily on the right side, some on the left but I really feel it on the right. How would I check on my own to see if there is motor mount problem....anyone?

My vibrations got so bad that my brake pedal had an audible rattle I could hear from 20 feet away. When I watched the front (lower) mount with the bike running it seemed to have way too much movement. Reading about the motor mount failures here on the site, combined with the increased vibrations on my bike led me to the assumption I had a problem so I just added it to the list of things for my dealer to check. With the new mount the vibrations have been reduced significantly.

Here's a link to some info I just found doing a search. I put 'Motor Mount Service Bulletin' in the search box and got quite a few hits...give it a try. https://www.hdforums.com/m_380153/tm.htm
