Have an 07 SG in denim pewter. Want to black it out. How much did you pay to have the forks and cowbells done ? I got a quote from a local company that will do it for 150? sounds like a good price to me,just curious what others have paid
You could have yours coated and would probably get a better finish but that would mean you need to take your bike down and wait while the parts are completed.
I prefer to have the parts ready and waiting.
I think the price is outrageous!
You can send those same parts to a chrome shop and have chromed for $200 bucks.
Chroming process is MUCH more work than powdercoating.
The parts you listed shouldn't be over $100 bucks, tops!
If it's a small shop, part of the cost is likely associated with start-up of their oven. It costs a fair amount to heat that baby up and if they are not running batches all day, they have to factor that in. I work in a weld shop with a powder booth and if folks are willing to wait until we are running parts, we will give them a better price. Just a possibility.

As far as the work is concerned yes, it's a lot more work to chrome something than powdercoat. But, it seems black may be the "new chrome" so suppliers/manufactures are charging accordingly.
