collapsed toe shifter
Hey all,
Today I was out on a ride and about 20 miles from being back home I went to upshift and realized I couldn't get my boot under my toe shifter.
I pulled off to a gas station and saw that my toe shifter had collapsed. I thought that maybe a nut had worked its way loose but that wasn't the case.
Is there some kind of "teeth" or some such inside the toe shifter mechanism that keep it "up"?
I was able to limp back home by gerry-rigging my heal shifter with my toe to down shift.
Thanks
David

Thanks. Not sure what the hell a "spline" is but now I've got somewhere to start.

in many cases, the shifter itself wears out before the shaft that it mounts to does. try just a shifter lever first. they are softer than the hardened shaft,so they wear out first. warning though, i think harley get like 50 bucks for the lever.
