I only got in 9,000 miles this season. In this area we had one of the wettest and coldest springs on record. It took until mid June to have acceptable weather so that lowered my usual 12K average.
I did the 4K ride to the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, Key West and across to Louisianan. That 4,000 mile ride was less than I thought it would be. Did 2,400 to Sturgis and went up from Spearfish to I-94 in North Dakota to Minnesota and Iowa before getting back to Illinois.
I did add five states to my visited map but just didn't come up with the usual miles. This fall didn't add much.
That leaves next year and the first big ride I have planned should net at least 8K. My Sturgis trip will be by way of Canada to add two Provence's for about 3K. With a good spring and fall I should be back on track of 12K/yr.
Not trying to contridict you but I'm in Northern Illinois and it seemed like the best Spring/Summer/Fall in many years. We rode out to Du Buque and up the Iowa side of the Mississippi to just South of Prairie Du Chien Wisconsin on Saturday April 10th and rode home to the far North Chicago suburbs on Sunday
Never felt cold.
Last year Summer of '09 we hardly had any warm weather, this year was great.
I usually average around 12,000 or so like you do,I'm right at 12,500 but I'm sure half of it was done on roadtrips,we usually pack miles into a long (4 day)
weekends.
Rather than winterizing the 1st week of November, gonna keep the bike out a few more weeks till around Thanksgiving cause I almost lost my mind last winter lol

Looks like you need to plan a trip out to my neck of the woods. Washington and Oregon have some incredible roads to ride. I live very near Mt. St. Helens. The ride up to the mountain and back to the freeway is 112 miles on an incredible road. You gotta add it to you bucket list.
I picked my RK up the first weekend in June. I just put it to bed with 6K. Not bad for 5 months. Too bad I wasn't able to ride it for 7 weeks. I'm hoping to do better next year.
