Default Thinking Of Trading Down In Spring?

I have a 2010 Ultra Classic,3K Miles, Bike Has ABS-CB-Intercom-Chrome Luggage Rak- Some other extras. I am thinking of getting a Street Glide in Denim Black I want ABS and thats about all I need besides the "103 " Motor. What do you think a dealer would charge me if any money at all for my Ultra trade in for the 2011 SG ?

You will be better off taking some stuff off your UC and keeping it.
As for Denim Black & the 103......you will take it in the shorts if you trade.

If you're looking for simpler, or a little lighter, why not just put a quick detach kit on your tour pack? Aside from the the electronic gadgetry you mention and some body work, there's no significant difference between the Ultra and Street Glide. The frame and running gear are the same with the exception of the Street Glide being lower a bit if I'm not mistaken and the fairing lowers can be removed from the crash bars in just a few minutes. You'll then have the option of going back to the decked out ride if the need and/or desire hits you and you won't take a raping on a trade in!

Just a thought! Good luck with whatever you decide.

Ride Safe,
Steve R.

I tend to agree...see my pics of my 2010 Ultra with the quick detach under the Touring section with the thread name "Here she is"....As far as trading, I think it would be cheaper to do the upgrade in your current bike and have the flexibility to go full dresser or SG look alike when you want it... Lotsa choices...good luck!

When you try to trade a bike to a dealer, its nearly worthless. If you try to buy the same bike from a dealer it is now gold plated platinum.

Stripping his FLHTCU down isn't going to make it a Streetglide and definitely not the StreetGlide he wants. The Black Denim SG is a killer looking ride.I'm way into my Ultra but if I was going StreetGlide that would be the color and with a few little mods I'd make it a dream bike.

If you can't sell the FLHTCU yourself and can handle getting dinged on a trade in,go for it and don't look back.

Wait till spring & try to sell your bike - trade will definitely bend you over.

I'll echo what you've already heard. You'll get screwed without even getting dinner first.

If you just gotta have a new black denim Street Glide with ABS, I think you'd take less of a hit by selling your Ultra first and then buying it.

Most dealers has gone back the the 90's.

Some of you guys will remember how moco let these dealers mark the bikes up over retail or you had to get on a waiting list just to order.

I just ran into that a few weeks ago. Wanted to trade my 07 Ultra. I go over $25,000 in it. Figured I would get at least $16,000 on trade. Nope, they were not having any part of that. I walked in with $15,000 in cash and a check book. As I walked out I pulled out the 15 bundles of 100 dollar bills.
I wasn't mad just disappointed. I will let these buyers they were telling me about buy them.

I will just make some changes and hang on to my money.
I already have SE255 cams and the Se compensator sprocket, with a PCV/At.
I have several other bikes to ride so it doesn't matter.
