Default Front Motor Mount?

Can someone tell me the symptoms of a bad front motor mount? I have a vibration that just started this weekend while at the beach. between 25 to 55 mph I get a vibration not real bad but didn't have it before I left for the beach. Coming home today, I ran 60 to 75 mph, and bike seem close to normal. But when you back off the throttle and you start loosing speed you can feel the vibration start. You actually feel it more in the seat and floor boards, not in the handlebars. When I get close to home there is this hill I go up and make a left turn close to the top of the hill. I usually just turn but don't gear down. Today when I turned and the motor started to pull, I could hear a clank, clank, in front of the motor until the bike got out of the pull. I have made this turn a 100 times and this is the first time it has clanked like it did today. So, what do you veteran Harley Riders think. I have owned the bike for a year and a half, its always been smooth and it now has 20,000 miles on it. This is my first Harley and Love it. It is a FLHRCI 2006 Road King Classic. Let me know what you think. Thanks for your time.

My indie told me should look at mount at 10,000, i'm at 31,000 and looking to replace mount for the second time. Mine developed a similar vibration last week. I bought it November 23, 07 wit 4, 900 mile on it.

I have a 2006 RK Classic also and need to replace my front motor mount. I'm going to go with the Glide Pro one, not the HD one.

With the clunking sound, I would suspect the motor mount. With just a vibration, a worn front tire is often the culprit.

My motor mount was cracked at 8000 miles, so if your bike has the original motor mount, the chances that it has cracked are pretty good. 2006 motor mounts were subject to deterioration when they got oil on them. HD has since made them more impervious to oil and they last alot longer. Try not to get alot of oil leakage when you unscrew the oil filter and the mount will last longer. The newer mounts are much stiffer and take about 500 miles to break in.

Can you normally tell if the rubber mount is cracked while it is still on the bike or do you have to take it off the frame?

My 06 RK front mount went at 9K miles, was getting a clunking noise in
the front end when ever I'd hit a bump. More vibration with the replacement
mount but smoothed out after a few thousand miles.

It's really hard to see while on the bike. I just decided to check while the motor was out and sure enough, the rubber was cracked about half way around on the upper and lower portions of the motor mount. Maybe with alot of light you will be able to see the lower portion, but no the upper.
