Look at the rubber from beneath the bike, and also look between the crank case and frame. See how close it is to the frame. Do the same at the primary case about midway of the jiffy stand. Mine is no doubt older, but the rubber had cracked and I couldn't see anything wrong from top side. After looking from beneath the mount, I could see the rubber had split/cracked, and the engine was sitting on the frame. on the left side of the crank case, I could see where the frame had a nice shiny spot where the case had rubbed. Just gotta get down below...

Yes you can tell. There should be a small gap between the bottom of top plate and the rubber of the motor mount, as posted be fore look underneath depending how bad the damage is there should be some that you can see (damage). As for using other mfg mounts I had bad luck with the first on I purchased the mount was so stif I thought the faring was going to vibrate off the bike could not even read the guages. Go to a dealership and ask for p/n L1501 T ( kit, engine isolator and standoff's)
I think that I paid 35.00 dollars. Then ask the parts person to get you a front motormount for your bike hold them in your hand look at the rubber you will see the same mfgr # embossed in the rubber 75.00 dollars !

Good luck

Russ
