this is route I took.Excellent alternative to IPOD or mp3---I burned a data CD with 120 songs on it. Great sound quality.

I was always leaving my mp3 player on the bike--I knew it was just a matter of time before someone would have stole it.

The only problem when using an ipod or mp3 player is that you can only control the volume through the radio. You have to use the ipod device for everything else such as song selection and starting and stopping.

On feature I found interesting is the CD player which is able to read mp3 files. I don't know if it is new for 07 but it sure is nice. It treats a data CD with mp3 song files the same as a audio CD. This displays the title, track and other information just like an audio CD. It is possible to record 50 to 100 songs (mp3) on CD depending on sampling that is used. The storage on a single CD would be the same as a 650 MB mp3 player and you aren't limited to one CD. Lots of potential here.

so, let me ask,....When prompted on the burner software, do I choose "data" instead of "music"?

Most of my files are wma....how do I convert to mp3 to get that many songs on a cd?

If you are burning a cd choose data for mp3. you can use itunes to convert wma's to mp3 it is free and really good software for organizing your music files even if you don't use an ipod.

I made the mistake of not choosing data and was wondering why I could only get 12 - 14 songs on a CD---i did not know that I should have chososen data---but now that I do i go around with two CDs instead of a book of them.

Thanks!!!

IPOD Shuffle, 250 dongs, velcro to dash. No POS Harmon Kardon CD skipping. Mine still skips or stalls occasionally even after all the software updates.

Yes, you can use the AUX input for your Ipods. Just go to Radio Shack and get a wire with an 1/8" mail jack on both ends.
It is a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cord, not 1/8".

You choose data to write mp3 to disc - essentially you are storing mp3 files to a data disk like on your hard drive, rather than making a "music" disk. Be ware - this feature has likely been added during the years to the radio, older radios will likely not read mp3's off a disc, they will require a music disk. MP3's typically should be recorded at 192kbpm (right abrieviation?) to get good stereo quality.

A mp3 player and ipod will both play music. Difference is the interface. Ipod very easy to buy music and sync between the pc and pod. The secret to the pod in my opinion is not the pod but the ease of iTunes to rip songs, buy songs and sync songs/picture/video to the pod. In my mind even though I'm more than capable of working with any mp3 player, I got a pod for ease of use and compatibility with 100's if not 1000's of accessories (my Bose Soundock and MTX iThunder, well, ROCK).

Hmmm....I use a homemade 1/8" 90 degree double plug (with NO cord) and if fits/works just fine....imagine that! IPOD Shuffle...240 songs. Plugs right into the aux port.

Bounty, iPods have a 3.5mm jack:
Input and output [*]iPod [*]Dock connector[*]3.5-mm stereo headphone minijack[/ul]
http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html
[/ul]The 1/8" may be close enough to 3.5mm that it fits.
