Yep, found Max and it is free and works well. I burned to an audio CD and ripped using Max. It even kept the song titles etc...

Many thanks for bringing this up!!! I had no idea my stereo would play MP3's and right now I'd much rather take the chances of a cd stolen off my bike than an i-pod/shuffle if I forget about it. I am also worried about the waterproofing if it rains and I am utilizing the input jack. I wonder if water would get into the unit.

It looks like the MP3 CD is the best way to go for me at the moment, plus I don't have to spend the $$ on the iPOD. My last iPOD lasted about 3 years and then became worthless because of the battery. However, it did spend about 1.5 in Afghanistan, so I guess it deserves credit.

Thanks again everyone! This forum is invaluable.
The mp3 cd is a great idea for those who's radios will read it. HK was an early adopter of mp3 - my receiver can decode them. btw, you can replace the batteries in old iPods. This is just one example http://www.sonnettech.com/product/ip...ies/index.html

this is route I took. Excellent alternative to IPOD or mp3---I burned a data CD with 120 songs on it. Great sound quality.

I was always leaving my mp3 player on the bike--I knew it was just a matter of time before someone would have stole it.

The only problem when using an ipod or mp3 player is that you can only control the volume through the radio. You have to use the ipod device for everything else such as song selection and starting and stopping.

On feature I found interesting is the CD player which is able to read mp3 files. I don't know if it is new for 07 but it sure is nice. It treats a data CD with mp3 song files the same as a audio CD. This displays the title, track and other information just like an audio CD. It is possible to record 50 to 100 songs (mp3) on CD depending on sampling that is used. The storage on a single CD would be the same as a 650 MB mp3 player and you aren't limited to one CD. Lots of potential here.
This is also what I did. I use ITunes to rip and burn. 700mb CD I get about 175 songs on it, thats over 10 hours of music.

Ok, I had mucho songs on the PC. Put 200 on the mp3 player last night. Musicbox(?) converted 'em all to MP3, I think. I listened to it today while driving in to work...awesome!

I went to a local phone store on the way home and got a stereo patch cord and a holder. I zip tied the holder to the LEFT handlebar. Dayum, I wish this rain would stop!!!

I'll get some pics up as soon as the camera charges....

I place my Ipod in the fairing glove compartment on my RG. A friend of mine has this gadget that allows you to control the Ipod remotely, it sits on the dash. Soon as I get the name I will post.

But for those of you with SG, check this item out. It attaches to your handlebars, allows you to control the Ipod and rain protection. Cost about 59 bucks.

I tried it tonight and it worked.

Details on the GPS to Aux interface are on the following thread:

A 3.5 to 3.5 cable that you use to attach an ipod to a car radio should work Tom Tom to Harley. Less than $5 at Walmart.
