Even though us Redneck Okies do in fact have a few tire swings, I think I'll pass. I appreciate the suggestion though.

I just had my tries changed at a (gasp) Suzuki dealer. No tire disposal fee!

Seen it before, I told them I'd dispose of my old tires. It was explained to me that it covers the eventual disposal of the new tires. Some places charge others don't (it must be factored in). The places that charge say the state requires it, but the charge varies from $2-5 tire (or in your case $9) depending on where you shop.

Just thank God the tire doesn't say SCREAMING EAGLE

Find someone to take them off your hands for you. The dealer here has a guy that occasionally picks up some used tires to make art out of them (dragons). You may be able to find a local artist that will take them to use for their "scrap art".

I just purchased new tires from Jake Wilson and no disposal fee was paid. My local indie is going to mount the tires and he does charge a $3 per tire fee.

I'm not taking the original tire off. They are staying on the OEM wheels. The new tires are going on a new set of chrome Limited wheels.

You better stock up now because if the green machine gets its way the fees will triple next year, and fees are being proposed on everything you can think of. Nine dollars a tire in Chi-Town guess who’s from that state.

Our Governor wants transponders on every car to tax you every mile you drive you pay a fee, also raise tolls, gas tax and green fee's.... Better stock-up now before the fee is $20 bucks.

We get the same complaints at the shop. I do understand where people are coming from if we aren't disposing the tire, but in our case it's built into the system and I have no way to remove the charge. 9$ is crazy though, I think ours is like 3$ or 4$ a tire. Our system also charges this on tubes and rim strips which I think is criminal. 2.95 rim strip, 4$ disposal fee.
