Pretty spendy for a one gallon container.

Me, 6 gal tank=240 miles max, max. If I can't plan on getting to a gas station somewhere in that distant, well, I need to rethink riding a motorcycle. If I where going to Mongolia maybe they would be worth the expense.

You'd be surprised. Try planning a trip through Northern BC and the Yukon some time. You'd better be passing a gas station while it's open and they can be quite far apart. I just picked one up at the local dealer for $30. Seems like cheap insurance for the occasional long ride, not to mention the wife will get off my back about filling up every 5 seconds once the needle hits empty (which means I've still got 2.5 gals).

Oh - and there's no way I'll get 240 out of a 6 gal tank. Wish I could but that'd be freeway all the way at 60 mph.

No question - but it's super think plastic and slanted on one side. If the manufacturer expected to sell 100,000 a year, manufacture with cheap materials and had to compete against Cho Hui Wan Co (you get the drift) then I dare say they'd cost less. Instead this is definitely a superior product manufactured in the USA. It has a super high end spout that locks so you can't spill gas on your tank (or worse).

What can you do . . . ? Buy Chinese at K-Mart I guess. It's a free country.

I think that this thing looks like money well spent… sign me up!

For those that are saying you can find a gas station within the 200 miles your gas tank will give you, I agree… BUT how many times when you riding and do you see a gas station and look at the gauge and it’s just a tick under half. And think, there is most likely another gas station in the next 50 miles, but I better not chance it. With this, you can chance it.

I ride solo 99.9% of the time and don’t like to stop for fuel every 90 miles, but I sometimes do when in a rural area that I’m not familiar with because I’m not working with a net, if you get my drift.

Oh, and the “I’m not ridding with a bomb in my saddle bag” people… this isn’t a milk jug that your filling up with gas, it’s a no more risky than that big 5/6 gallon thing that sits in front of you. Most sport bikes have plastic tanks and I can’t remember the last time I saw one of those blow up.

Great for keeping race fuel on hand to keep octane levels in check at a fill up.

It's loose change compared with a one gallon larger gas tank, believe me!

If you never stray far on your bike the extra range may not be important, but if you travel far afield into distant places finding gas can be a struggle. For pity's sake it's bad enough in some parts of the USA, let alone on the route to Mongolia!
