You're gonna like em. They're quiet when you need them to be but when you whack the throttle they sound just great.

Can't wait to get my new RKC home from the dealer. As far as pipes go, when I had my 07 fatboy, I always liked the way my friends 07 RK sounded with his V&H true duals. He sold it to a ride buddy of ours, and then he and his brother bought '08 CVO RK's both had nice V&H dual exhaust.

Bagger, nice duals, nice sound, works for me.

The age old debate, Been running duals on my RK for the last 5 years Bike runs and sounds great. Trust me, If I thought the duals hindered the performance of my bike, They would have been gone along time ago. Some of you guys act like you can't even get them out of the garage. If you are going to pull the dyno card, I have seen properly tuned duals with just as flat of a curve as a 2-1.

PS will also be adding oil cooler
The Rinehart TD's are probably a stepped header. Meaning it goes from 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" and finish at 2". If you are planning on using your Sampson's then be sure inlet size will match the head pipes you choose.
I recently installed Rush true dual head pipes (1 3/4") and mated those with the Rinehart 4" on my 08 Ultra and it sounds great. The heat issue is gone. I also installed a PC III at the same time which helps the heat issue as well.

Jack I too have an 06 electraglide ultra classic on which i just installed a set of Rinehart true duals. I have had 6 different exhaust configurations and this one is the best. I am done with the exhaust search. Its true you loose low end torque with duals but with the stepped head pipes ending up 2in at the muffler you gain it back on the top end. Quarter mile times my bike with Rineharts is faster! My riding buddies swear i changed the cams or went to 95ci.

RInehart TDs are among the best performance exhaust systems for the touring bikes. I dislike making general statement about exhaust performance because it over-simplifys the concepts, but generally, a good 2-1 system will come on a little sooner than a good 2-2 system, but the greater capacity of the duals will return higher overall numbers. The key to getting the most from your exhaust is to have a proper tune.

Your definition of best performing might be different than another guys. Some want the most power, peak torque and hp, others focus more on early torque production.

Here's a chart showing two identical bikes, exactly the same except for the exhaust. The one with the fatcat 2-1 has an earlier torque curve, the one with the Rinehart TDs has higher overall numbers. Running around town, the fatcat bike will feel a little snappier, but in a race, the one with the TDs would likely pull away.

Here's another chart comparing the fatcat with the Rinehart TDs. Similar looking curves. Again, up to about 3K rpms, the fatcat comes on earlier, but the Rineharts post higher numbers. Some guys want the early torque curve and don't care about overall numbers, others want the most power they can get.

The lost torque issue mattered more when our motors were smaller, ( EVO.) The difference is minor on these bigger motors. Get what appeals to you. ( And the top of the tranny is SO much easier to clean too!)
