Can someone please explain what is up with putting apes on street glides, road glides, and electra glides?
I even saw a set on a V-rod at my dealer.
They just plain look dumb.
Is it even comfortable to ride like that for a hundred or so miles?
For me, the main reason I put the 10's on my Street Glide was because i have a bad back. The stock bars had me reaching forward and down and on longer trips it was killing my back. The 10's keep my back straight so i'm not slouching forward all the time. Very comfortable, easy to handle and I love the way they look on my bike!
My SG has 16" apes. Personally, I love 'em. Some of my buddies originally thought they were ridiculous on a bagger, but when they saw me riding, they (most if them) changed their opinion. I'm 6'5" and this is BY FAR the most comfortable ride / setup I've experienced.

I have 16" cyclesmiths on my 2008 EG Standard and absolutely love them. I travel long trips each yeary (4-5000 miles) and what I have found is I no longer get the pain in between my shoulder blades and it feels smoother when I make sharp turns. I am 5'8" so I am not a tall guy, and in retrospect I could have gone with the 18" and been just as happy. As always stuff on our bikes is for our preference not anyone elses. I am just happy it looks good and it is functional for me.
well i could tel you about thos stock road glide bare makeing you feel croched over like a croch rocket but i wont i will say i love my apes on both bike!!!
I was never a fan of apes on baggers but I have been looking at some of the threads on here and I am liking the look.
I started looking at the Monkey Bars in probably 12"-14". What do you all recommend? I'm 6'1" and have some long *** gorilla arms. I would also like to be able to use my stock SG mirrors.

I recommend 14 or higher for you. I have 13" and the top 1/4 of my mirror is blocked. I can still use it but if I went a little higher I would be able use the whole mirror
