Default A little advice needed

I have an 06 street glide with 25 degree injectors, SE air kit, race download, and python slipons. Bike runs strong with some mild to moderate popping on decel only. Once in a great while I get an occaisional hiccup in the breather if I don't let the bike warm up. My only complaint is that I need a little more kick when I need to pass. 95 percent of my riding is 2up and combined weight is about 310#.

I don't need or would use a large amount of "speed" modifications, but want the bike to run at it's best. I am considering a 203 or 204 cam change and the dealer advises to add a DFO so they can tune it further as to fuel. They feel that the map is very close as several of them run the same setup as I. Then next year going to a big bore and polish the heads at that time. The Dealer does all of this at their shop, and they have done this on several of my buddies bikes and they are happy. I can do basic work but don't have the time to tackle this myself. They also said that with the cam change they install adjustable pushrods. Any thoughts.

Thanks

Should be no warm-up required, no popping thru the breather & no decel pop....that is a crap state of tune! Forget the DFO....add a PCIII & get the bike dynoed by a pro. Switch to gear drive cams for even more performance (Kuryakyn TC-2G), they will match up nicely with your big bore. That shop did you no favor with the download...they know better!

I would can the sert and buy a pcIII and have it dynoed, it would run way better, or there is no sub for Cubic inches!

You may want to consider changing your gear ratio to 3:37 by changing the clutch basket and compensator gears. This would help improve torque/feel now and work with any later mods.

First off, you have the wrong cal for those mufflers.... That is why you are experiencing the popping and hiccup....

The Race D/L wasn't calibrated for the Pythons... It was designed for the SE II's......

Wrong cal, poor performance....

I agree that you do need some fuel management interface, but you have to choose....

As you are contemplating doing cams and headwork, I'd stay away from the DFO...

You will need a SERT or PC to be able to modify more than the injector dwell.....

BH hit it on the head... The shop knew better than to install that particular flash.....

You could have spent that $$$$ on a SERT or PC...

Have you ridden an 07 yet, by the time you upgrade the bike you have, you might be better off trading up to an 07. I am sure there are some who think thats crazy, but my 07 Ultra runs night and day better than my 06 Ultra. I will put on my fire retardent under wear now.

90% of the tuners can tune the DFO with your bike properly, probably only 10% can optimize the PCIII. How exactly gear-driven cams add horsepower only the gods can tell. I'd find the best tuner in town and go with the PCIII, but that's because I already know the best tuner in my town. If I lived in the boonies (wish I did again), I'd get a DFO. I'd get the SE heads and spend the extra $600 over having my own heads worked, but again, that's me. Best to ignore my advice and re-read the posts above again. : )

Well there in lies the problem. Only one Dyno in my town or for that matter even close and that is at my Dealer.
