Being that there aint any men, macho or otherwise, in Conn I would rule out the macho thing. The state is full of blue bloods and metrosexuals and dumasses so pick one.
I live in a Free state I wear one when riding in city traffic and dont riding in the country. I always wore one on my jap bikes because I did more stupid (fun) things on them.

P.S. If I did live in that commie state I would wear one, law or no law, very crowded there.
Can someone from CT. or a state where helmet laws are not mandatory explain to me why 95% of riders on cruisers do not wear helmets?
Is it a freedom thing, a macho thing ( but the female passengers don't wear them either), or just stupidity?
Well, the most common injury in an automobile accident is head trauma. I think it is stupidity to be in a moving vehicle without a full face helmet. We should take immediate steps to legislate that, too!
And while we are at it, maybe we should outlaw riding motorcycles, as it obvious that in almost any accident, you would be safer in a CAR! Keep the Citizens safe!
Come Comrade, let's join together and make this a true worker's paradise by making sure the government keeps us safe from ourselves!

I think a lot of riders/passengers just enjoy riding without a helmet, the wind in the hair. I do notice a lot more riders wear 3/4 helmets when its cold out. My wife and I wear helmets 99% of the time, saved my life once, and that's enough to make us want to wear them all the time. Nothing like a gouged helmet and concussion to make you think what woulda happened if that had been my head bouncing on the pavement
It's amazing how easily we let our freedoms slip away just because it might be good for us, or not good for us! Pretty soon we won't be able to eat a bacon cheeseburger because some legislator thinks it will lead to a heart attack. We used to have some common sense in this country, but now we think the government should be our common sense.
i think everyone can agree that a helmet will probably help protect you in case of an accident. if you live in a state that allows you to ride without one...then you need to start thinking. do i want to take a chance on dying needlessly and leaving my family without a husband, father, lover, bread winner, protector, advisor, etc.??? or worse than that-living as a vegetable...with someone having to feed you and wipe your butt!!
think of someone besides yourself. although you will be providing jobs for e.m.s. personnel, hospital and re-hab clinics, morticians, and so forth--that is not a good enough reason to ride without a helmet.
i personally could not care less if you choose not to wear a helmet. just make sure that you have lots of life insurance and tons of medical insurance. i do not want my taxes raised to help pay for your "freedom of choice".

The same skewed logic can (and is) used to argue against riding a motorcycle. Personally, I am very tired of hearing people tell others what they can and cannot choose to do. You do not have to like the choices other people make, but you must respect their ability to do so. This is still a (mostly) free country, so you Nancys lighten up.
BTW, CTBagger is a shitmerchant. He enjoys starting these fires.

Freedom of choice allows for Darwin's theory of "Natural Selection" to exist...lol Think the guys with helmets will go on...
" Natural selection acts to preserve and accumulate minor advantageous genetic mutations. Suppose a member of a species developed a functional advantage (it grew wings and learned to fly). Its offspring would inherit that advantage and pass it on to their offspring. The inferior (disadvantaged) members of the same species would gradually die out, leaving only the superior (advantaged) members of the species. Natural selection is the preservation of a functional advantage that enables a species to compete better in the wild.. Similarly, natural selection eliminates inferior species gradually over time."
just sayin..lol
And I should add, the helmet probably saved my wifes life.
I don't like to have insurance, and I hope to never use it, but I like it when I need it.
But yes,, to each there own, live and let live...or not.
