CT Riders & Helmets
Whether I wear a helmet or not when it is my choice is really no concern of yours. Enjoy your freedoms I and my fellow soldiers serve to protect, at least while we still have a few.
Good advice once given me while I was growing up that I never forgot...You can do anything you like, as long as you don't get caught, and if you do, you are willing to face the consequences.
I have not worn mine in PA and FL, and DE when riding in those states in the past....This summer I went down and in MD, it is mandatory...after hearing my helmet hit and it sounded like a racquetball bouncing on the pavement, I won't be caught without one again.
I was only wearing my 1/2 helmet at the time, glad I had it on...did wonders for the head, but not the knee...
And while we are at it, maybe we should outlaw riding motorcycles, as it obvious that in almost any accident, you would be safer in a CAR! Keep the Citizens safe!
Come Comrade, let's join together and make this a true worker's paradise by making sure the government keeps us safe from ourselves!
Consider this:
The time spent wearing a helmet is usually only a few minutes, to a few hours, at a time. A head injury is always and forever. Some of us, the lucky ones, that receive these injuries have to relearn to walk, talk, write, a manner in which we can support ourselves and our families, etc..
The next luckiest group of people that receive head injuries die instantly as a result. It may leave their families in a bind, but since the rider that suffered the injury will never know about the struggles their families face, why bother even considering the possibility.
The real unfortunate ones 'live' for years. And during this time they must be tended to as if they are infants, or worse. On the plus side these people, actually their family or whoever takes care of them, will probably receive a stipend from the government.
Another consideration is the fact that while "the most common injury in an automobile accident is head trauma", that usually occurs only in a serious accident. Especially if the people are wearing seat belts. A minor 'fender bender' sort of accident on a motorcycle can result in a head injury. Especially if the rider isn't wearing a helmet.
Okay Flame On! But before you do consider this: I don't recommend anyone wear, or not wear, a helmet. I don't know any of you and really don't care about your lives. But for 'freedom of choice' to be really 'free' the undecided should hear from all sides of an issue right?

There are preachers that claim they are trying to save your soul and there are preachers (the usual suspects) here that think they are trying to influence and save our lives. It's all BS in each and every instance.
If you helmet preachers are so afraid of crashing you should stay off of motorcycles. You are really starting to make me nervous realizing that there are so many incompetent riders. If you ride a crotch rocket and like to do 80mph wheelies then by all means I agree you should wear a full face helmet. Mainly so the rest of us won't have to look at your face after the accident. However, I have to say that most of the crotch rocket riders that I have seen doing high speed wheelies appear quite competent. They have my respect.
Seems the OP was asking about CT "cruiser" riders. Who the hell uses "cruiser" for Harleys? Anyway, where I usually ride nobody really cares what people in CT are doing.
And we only wear a helmet if we want to. Most don't.
