It's just amazing how volatile some guys get about "why" threads.
These are just opinions expressed by the posters and should not get under your skin if you are receptive of others opinions.
Keep em coming guys.
If you are pissed about these threads then don't read into them.
Read about rainbows or something peaceful and serene

whenever i ride up into CT (which is frequently, my sister goes to school there and i love riding th merrit) i pull off in that mobil station right at the border and ditch my helmet.

pick it up when i leave the state.

i find it freeing to ride without one as i usually have to wear one.

if i wanted everyone's approval, i'd stop havin unprotected sex with hookers. but then again i'm a bit of a risk taker.

LMAO!!!!!

I also live in a "choice" state. I used to NEVER wear one. I like the feeling and freedom of not wearing one. However, I probably wouldn't like the feeling of my bare head hitting the ground either.

Now that I ride with my daughter more and more, she's 14 and she CHOOSES to wear a full face, plus it's the law for anyone under 16 to have to wear one, I kinda feel silly not wearing at least a half helmet. I've found that the new helmets are just as comfortable as wearing my crappy baseball cap anyway. And if I'm gonna wear one, I might as well wear one that will do something for me should my head hits the pavement.

Where I live in south Texas freedom of choice usually means corn OR flour tortillas with your meal.

What if I want both? Is there an extra charge?

I was born, raised, and rode in CT. I now live in a mandatory helmet state. The one thing in this world that really pi$$e$ me off the most is somebody telling me what's good for me. Whether I wear a helmet or not (given the choice) is my own business. Next some fool is going to say owning and carrying a gun should be outlawed because they're dangerous..............THEY ARE DANGEROUS - THAT WHY I HAVE ONE!!!!

I used to never wear a helmet, except for when riding though states that required it, until my accident last year. I didn't hit my head or anything, but made a promise to my family that I would start to wear one. Now it has just become a habit to put it on before I ride.

I'm less concerned with injuries than I am about the government reading my brain waves. I've got a couple of helmets designed to block any attempted cranial intrusions

beanie with face guard

3/4 helmet

I also make a similar helmet that I give to my closest friends. It's not quite as effective as the ones pictured above, but it doesn't cost nearly as much either.

I'm originally from CT and my hometown friends still have their panheads they rode when we rode together 35 yrs ago. We weren't 1% but rubbed elbows with them enough, including clogging Hartford with helmetless riders often enough to get the helmet law repealed.

I'm telling you this because you don't have a clue and obviously have never been there. But, go ahead and talk your crap, it won't cost you anything...on the internet.
