I have the HT set up too; Speakers, Tweeter Pod and amp. It's ok but I thought that for $425 it should have sounded a bit better, which it does standing still, but above 50 that's another story. I would be inclined to try the Hawg Wired stuff next time, but it's more $ yet as is the Biketronics stuff. Nothing cheap for these bikes...
I've got the HT's tweeter pod, their speakers in the fairing, and lower fairings & their amp. Having some problems with the amp but, i can live with it. The speakers in the lowers sound good sitting in the driveway or garage while cleaning the bike but, I think going down the road are pretty much useless. Overall the system sounds good & I can hear the music fine going down the road.
Just get a set of 6.5 inch speaker adapters and add a good set of 6.5 inch speakers.
Less money, easily done, and the improvement is unbelievably better.
$25 for the 6.5 adapters
$60-100 for speakers
J&M 7.25's. 'Nuff said - Even without additional amplification (The HK head unit really isn't that bad once you get some reasonably speakers in there). More here if you're bored: http://www.johnscrip.com/html/blog_f...25speakers.php
(No, I'm not a paid endorser - I just listen to music for a living)
Awesome write up on the speakers.
While I don't listen for living, I grew up as a kid of a travelling rock musician and also mix live sound for contemporary Christian rock band(s), so have a fair understanding of the science behind your writing.
Superb and informative. Not to the level of what most would even care to know, but for freaks like me it is candy Thanks!

Glacierpearl, Checked out the link, Man that set up is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it must crank. I use my pack and bags for stowing to much gear to loose the space but if I had an extra bike kickcing around I would follow your set up. Great job!!!
What ever you get make sure you do your testing with a store bought CD vs an mp3 player. Even though we are all use to the convenience of an mp3 player, the quality of the audio of an mp3 is usually inferior to a store bought CD. The reason you can fit so many mp3s on a player or disk is because of the compression used to make the file size smaller, which affects the audio quality. A CD will give you a more accurate representation of what your system can do.
