cat removal from 10 headpipe
I cut it in half and cut out all of the catalyst by drilling all around the edges of the catalyst with a 1/4" drillbit, then just working out the media with pliers and needlenose vicegrips.
It's not real easy, and it's messy for sure, but well worth the effort.
I also polished out all of the adhesive that is used when the catalyst is canned and all the leftover catalyst media.
I used a diegrinder and some small abraisive flap wheels for this task.
Again, not real easy but just a little labor intensive.
I rewelded the pipe and installed it on my 2010 FLTRX with a Power Commander V from Fuel Moto.
That unit came mapped for me and bypasses the O2 sensors so I just used plugs and removed the O2 sensors from the collector.
I also installed the S/E Ventilator air filter setup and am using the S/E Nightstick muffler that I originally installed.
It sounds and runs great and definetly runs cooler.
I plan to "test" with this setup for a while.
Attached a couple of pictures of my test setup.
In the second photo you will see where the O2 sensors are placed in the 2-1 collector, I'm pretty sure the 2-2 set up will be similar.
As you can see, the O2 sensors are immediately where the pipe enters the collector and the catalyst is still a ways from the collector so I can't imagine any more "crosstalk" per se because of the removal of the media.
Just my thoughts anyway.

I'm runnin' a PCIII-USB without 02 sensors. So far I haven't even bothered to make any changes to my map. The only difference I've seen is a very slightly louder sound, less heat, & the bike feels a little more responsive. All in all, not any big changes but no problems.
