I guess if I only rode around "Utopia" I'd remove mine too. Probably not...
I wouldn't stop there though. I would have them remove the fork lock, the locks from the saddlebags, tourpak, and just remove the need for keys all together with.
I mean...who needs the hassle right?

I think that is totally different. I have been riding since 1972 and have always used fork locks etc but all they do is keep honest people from jacking your stuff. The security system will only keep honest people from stealing your bike. a professional will pick it up and be gone. People who think alarms are big detterants have not listened to car alarms going off for hours without any responses. I think a lot of people hope some one steals the alarmed car/bike just to shut it off.
For me on my 2011 I wish I had the option of disarming it and leaving it disarmed and if I want it armed I could arm it. I do live in Utopia and 99% of the time I do not need the security system. I go to Sturgis for a week every year and one year I forgot my freaking keys (04 egc) and I worried a little but just made sure I parked in a normal parking lot when I was not on it.
When you have removed the security system from your bike remember to call your insurance company to tell them. They will want to update their records - and your invoice. <G>
I think I will try to disable mine after today. I stopped at a store on the way to work, and when I got back on the bike the damned thing wouldn't start. I went back in the store to see if they had a battery for the key fob with no luck.I went back outside and took the battery out and put it back in, and it started, but it made me pissed off and late for work.

hmmm insurance on a bike? never thought of that. I wonder what it cost to insure a 2011 RGU. In my state insurance is not required on a motorcycle.

Man... you do live in Utopia! I think...
I'd rather have insurance. Or at least know everyone else does.
I know that guy who rode my sportbike into that minivan full of kids probably didn't care if he had insurance. The passengers of the van sure did.

You lost me. You didn't really explain how it is totally different. Fork locks and security systems keep honest people honest. I agree. I also think locks on bags and whatnot do the same. You can have anything stolen, anything broken into. Does this fact mean we don't use locks or alarms as precautions? Not sure. But is sure is nice to think that there are still places out there where people can relax and leave their doors unlocked... not here though. Wish.

I'll try to avoid running into mini vans at all costs lol. and I was just being a smart a$$. I have insurance and have owned about 20 different bikes all without security except this one and believe it or not never had a bike or car/truck stolen. Utopia is a good place to live and like Jefflh stated everybody where I lives owns guns so pretty low crime rate.

Man you can park your bike in fort knox if it makes you feel secure, Maybe you have been a victim or insecure or whatever. I have not been a victim and it is a pain in the *** to be working on my bike when my key fob is in the house and the lights are flashing. I am not worried about somebody stealing it. I have owned bikes since 1972 and never had one taken yet. If it gets jacked I will replace it. In reality what good is the security system? a thief can still load the bike in a van and be gone. Not going to stop that.

Hey man, my post was not meant to offend. I wish I lived where you do is all I'm saying. Apparently you've got good luck. I work in a hard part of town is all, an industrial area. I need all the security I can get! Even if the "security" doesn't work, at least I did all I could to not make it easy for them. I hope the siren blows their ears out as they lift my baby into the van! I have a ton of sweat equity in that thing. No amount of insurance is going to replace that!
