Boy could of saved couple bucks and had dealer remove it before you bought it. When I worked for a dealer we had a box of them that customers did not want (when the bike they wanted had it pre installed) and then put them on for customers that did want it.

I purchased my bike thorugh Military sales and we do not have a choice of changing out options. The majority of the bikes they sell have the security system on them and I think it is on there because they know we can't have it removed so it drives the price up. On my 03 softail I was able to disable the whole system. I just wish I could do that with this one. I am always worried about the FOB and I hate carrying stuff on me. I usually have the wife carry the extra FOB in her gear in case one dies. I agree that it just dsnt make sense to be chaged to take off an option you payed for.

As far as locking stuff up, I lock my bags when they have stuff in them. I think if its locked and someone is messing with it they would look out of place *screw driver in hand over a harley) and someone would say something to them.

How many times have you heard a siren go off on a car and NO ONE pays attention cause they just figure its a false alarm.

Only thing the Harly system does is annoy owners and give the thief extra light while he is stealing your bike by flasshing the turn signals.

Yep! However it is slowly getting to be like a lot of other places now...that scumbag Spader changed a lot with that murder in Mount Vernon last year.

I have the security system on my RK and so far no issues but will be sure to keep the batteries in the FOBs fresh

Actually it may "stop someone from loading it up in a truck and stealing it". It all depends on the situation. For example, back in 1971 I would put a little chain, actually a dog collar", through the rear wheel while I was in class (UNLV). I wasn't too worried about somebody cutting the chain, or loading it into a truck, because where it was parked there were always people around that would have noticed what was happening.

One day I was late for class and didn't put the chain through the wheel, I never saw that H1 again. Although the police did call me a few years later to come pick up the frame, which had been found in the desert. I've really believe that if there had been a security system which flashed lights, especially if there was a siren making noise, the theft wouldn't have taken place.

A security system isn't foolproof, but there are times when it could be nice to have.

If I lived in an urban setting, maybe it would be another story, but out in the woods up here in NH, we don't live like that. I have $70,000 worth of cars sitting outside with the keys in them, and the bike is in the unlocked shed with the key & fob in the glove box. I put all new locks on my new doors in the house 12 years ago and have never used them. I don't even know where the house keys are located.

So, The offer still stands, anyone want a free security system? Comes with TSSM, alarm module and 2 fobs. Will trade even up for a TSM that will work on my '07.
