Default Tire Tread Depth

Dumb question of the day..What is the tread depth on brand new touring tires? Running the original Dunlop 407s on my Street Glide with about 10000 miles on them. Bought a little tread depth gauge to see what I had left. Read about 4/32 then realized I had nothing to compare it to.

I measured mine with about 2500 miles and got .230 on the rear and .150 on the front.

So a fairly educated guess for new would be about .25 or 8/32 on the rear and .18 or 6/32 on the front.

Assuming that you are running a 180/65 on the rear your thread depth is 10/32.
