Default Floating Rotors

Can someone please tell me what type or make of rotors and pads are recommended for my Road King. Also the best place to get them as well as how much I can expect to spend. The only source for brakes I have here in my area is the stealer and I am sure I can get them cheaper somewhere else. I am on my third set of stock rotors and they suck, recomendations please.

I thought the floating calipers were the way to go. My '03 Ultra Classic has the dreaded front brake squeal. Not being very familar with the best fix for a Harley brake system, I would think that floating caliphers are the best.

I can't imaging going through 3 sets of rotors. What's causing you to do that?

To get rid of my front brake squeel I installed the HD floating rotors and kept the stock HD pads. I got the rotors through Benjy's in WV(20% off suggested retail). Solved the front brake squeel problem and let me learn how to change out rotors on the front.

I put Harley floating rotors on and Lyndall brake pads. This combo makes my Ultra stop very quick with no noise.. I think the HD floating rotors are one of the best deal from Harley compared to aftermarket prices..

I have EBC rotors and EBC Kevlar pads on front, EBC Kevlar pads and stock rotor on rear. The front pads and rotors have about 106k miles on them (10k of which on my old Dyna), the rear pads only about 96k. Rotors show no wear at all except superficial, and pads still have about 1/3 of the surface remaining. Braking is excellent with low dust, no squeal, and pads are not expensive, available from Drag for about $30/set for fronts (Evo single-piston caliper). In a driving rain there is a slight delay before braking is effected on the fronts, which I've become accustomed to and has never caused any problems. Rotor inner inserts are aluminum, not chrome, and require periodic polishing. Outer braking surface is "high-friction steel" and not stainless, but rust is not a problem since the non-contact surfaces are zinc-coated. Hot Toppers cover rotor bolts on the front brake pictured.

I know, this is the older-generation brakes, but they do make the pads for the newer model. Not sure about rotors, though. I attribute some of the excellent performance and long life to the floating rotors, but I'm sure the Kevlar pad material contributes, too.

Ok guys. What is a "floating rotor"? Sorry to have to ask. Just don't know what it is. I know what the rotors and calipers are. Just don't know how it floats. Went for a 120 mile round trip this morning to El Centro, CA. Had breakfast over there. Nice ride, temps are getting just right! Safe riding............Al.
