I can't think of a motorcycle made that I don't like, hell I used to own a 68 Honda Trail 90 that was a real blast to ride....I just happen to own a Harley right now.
I dont feel anything when I pull up to someone on a whatever bike, Screw all out there that think they are better than others cause they can spend the big bucks to get what they want. Ive had tons of bikes, some harleys ,british, japs too, I mostly ride harleys cause I LIKE THEM, not to impress or feel supeior to others, thats just BS in my book. Ive met a lot of people on bikes, and to tell you the truth, the A$$holes were not always riding other brand bikes
I've learned that anyone who rides a cycle is typically way cooler than anyone who doesn't. We're all cut from the same cloth. Loving the wind in our face, the feeling of bending your cycle around a great country road, bullshitting with other bikers.
My brother sent me a note the other day that he was sitting and bullshitting with a guy riding a Honda a Dunkin Donuts and that all bikers had an instant connection. A good friend of ours has had some problems lately including losing his wife to cancer. He's got two kids. He decided to buy a Honda at a really great price so he could ride with us. It's great for him and for us and you know what - he's riding, he's getting places just as well as we are (quieter, till he finds V&H pipes for the Honda).
There are really a lot of great bikes out there. I like "naked" bikes. BMW K1200R has 163HP in a 500lb bike. I like the Ducati, particularly the Monster. Heck Honda has a great one called the 919, 11 second bike you can buy used for 3 grand and at that price, I'd put one in my garage next to my Deuce. If I couldn't afford the HOG, I'd have a 919 in the garage and still go out to let off steam and hang out with my friends. We ride with a Kow 750, a Honda 750 and a "Star". Heck the Star is real nice. My only issue is with those guys who give you the reverse "why buy a Harley ..." crap and the sport bike crack heads who come within inches of my elbow sitting out the car window while lane skipping...
Then again, when one of those guys went down 1/2 a mile from my house I helped him out. Ride. Ride Safe.
Cool people ride all kinds of bikes. Before I got an HD, I always enjoyed talking to HD riders that were not hating on my jap or german "crap". I learned a lot that way, and had fun.... My bikes are recreational vehicles. They have all taught me something, made me curse and smile, and have been fun in their own way. I like HD, but I got no prob with someone riding whatever they want. As far as what I think? I wanted a Harley for 17 years. While I was waiting, I rode whatever I could find. I am sure some of those wannabe's are in the same boat as I was, so why be a dick to 'em? Besides, one of my riding buds rides a Royal Star, and I love to watch the haters get bummed when she whips off the helmet, and BAM.... a cutie!
i agree i love my 01 rkc. but i did feel stupid riding my wifes 250rebel trainer bike. we sold it now she has a 99 lowrider which she hardly ever will ride but i enjoy it . all riders to me are riders but deep in our hearts we love our harleys for the unique sound, vibrations, 07 trannys ect,ect .that the metrics dont have .
There are all kinds of people out there, the bike doesn't really make any difference to me as an @$$hole can be riding a Harley, Sportbike, or anything in between. I've pulled up to sportbikes that were happy to have another biker around and I've also pulled up to others that immediately get hot on the throttle and repeatedly rev their bikes until the light changes and they fly away from me.
There are also riders that are on baggers like mine who don't even give the biker wave after I've extended my 'hello' to them........and on the other hand there have been large groups of rockets that have all initiated the wave to me on my bagger.
I agree to a previous comment that there is no way I could have afforded the bike I have today when I was just a punk, so maybe all these other guys will someday graduate to a Harley. ( I know I did, rode CR125 as a kid and learned how to take a fall, Ninja, CBR and a Hayabusa as a twenty-something, and now a Harley in my 30s)
If some of you guys were living a little farther south, you could join up with one of them racist organizations. If you can hate a guy for riding what he can afford, you can hate a guy for being a different race than you. Or maybe because they go to a different church than you . . . or because they decided to join the military . . . or go to college . . . or not . . .or a thousand other things that they do differently than you.
If you can't stand them to ride a Honda or Suzi, go buy them a Harley and shut up.
Otherwise, ride what you want to ride and let others do the same.
