Ha, ha, ha, all the things we have and they don't have... That's a joke right? And here we're all trying to play nice.
While Harley has become very agressive in upgrading their bikes lately, it's more catch up than "we've got and they don't". Other bikes have had six speed tranny's for years. Many have overhead cams and valves, 4 valves per cylinder, even shaft drive and such. Some bikes have automatic windshields, suspensions, and kickstands.
I don't think of my Harley as having "stuff I have that others don't". They're really nice, nice evolutions of a classic style, really, really, really nicely put together and scienced out (at least by year 2 of any new product), with good paint and awesome sound (no I'm not talking about the stereo).
You start the "we've got more thing" and, well, it just leads to arguments no one will win.
Polecat,
You might want to consider replying to someone's post you have an issue with and not the 'last' post who essentially is in agreement with you. I take offense to comments like yours that are aimed at every post in the thread, especially when race comes into play on a thread for Harley -vs- non-Harley riders.........where the hell did race come into this?
Wow, a lot of "feelings" rolling around this thread. Sometimes a little too sensitive, like this thread should have a pink background to it. You gotta admit some posts were lighthearted, but taken way too seriously by a few others. Now, the fact is most everyone who rides "feels" the kinship and brotherhood with all other bikers. That's cool. That won't change.
what really sucks is that its 68 degrees outside, clearskies in houston and im sitting at my computer reading this crap . i think i will go for a little 1 hour cruise and enjoy having the freedom to ride and enjoy the sweet music of my 01 rkc . riders are riders respect them all.
This is a pretty funny thread. I came over to Harley's from riding Honda's and all I ever see on the Honda Boards is how much better the Honda's are at half the price and half the repair bills. I had a VTX 1300 Retro, pimped it out to a low riding retro
It was a sweet ride and sounded great with the classic V-twin sound but I quickly got tired of the look and wanted something else but saw a VTX with a 240 tire and thought damn thats cool but I wanted just more than a fat tire and built the bike the way I wanted it. 240 tire, 7 degree raked trees with 2" fork extensions, chromed rims and she was kickass I don't care what anybody else thought it was my dream bike and was fun to drive plus it turned heads everywhere it we went and everybody said the bike was me.
Then the wifey had a little accident and wanted to ride with me instead of her own everyonce and a while and we couldn't go on long trips because there was no where to put anything so I sold my bike and bought the SG. The guys on the VTX board for the most part were cool with it, I still fix allot of their seats and visit the board often if not daily, those dudes are my bros over there and we have logged allot of miles together. But there are a few that just hate HD's. Oil leaking, breaking down, noise makers. I try not to push my beliefs on them, HD has came along ways and to me the HD is the better made bike. But I know for a fact owning a HD dont make you a better person nor does owning a Honda or whatever. This is the first thread of this type I have seen on this board and it has kind of shocked me at the way some guys perceive fellow riders just because they chose to ride a differant brand....what does it matter? If your in the wind killing bugs your cool with me, I don't care what you ride. Peace out.
i always talk and smile at anyone i pull up next to on a bike...usually theyre just as happy as me to be on two wheels...and i know they are just as proud of thier ride as i am of mine....it shows poor class to ridicule another mans stuff
I have to agree with you FH. In fact, I was actually looking for a Valk when I bought my EG. I'd still like to have one in the inventory one day. My philosophy has always been: ride what puts a smile on your face. It's your money. I'm not naive enough to think that owning an HD somehow makes me better or smarter than anyone else. Two wheels and a motor...It's all good.
