Not at all but great in between waxes. Say you just cleaned your bike and have already had it waxed. Use the Pledge and it shines great and as I said previously, keeps the dirt and dust from collecting so quickly.

Exactly what I do. I use it on the inner fairing, painted surfaces, windshield, headlight...pretty much everything but the engine. Never a problem. It works great and it is sooo easy to use.

I think it is best used by those that detail their bikes more often. If I only washed/waxed a few times a year I'd probably use something different that is intended for that purpose.

The OP asked "Who says this stuff works good to clean?" The answer should be no one, except if you are using it on furniture.

You surely don't want to grind road dust into your expensive paint job by applying Pledge without cleaning you bike first. Household dust on your furniture would be much less harmful. Now, if you keep your bike in your living room, then that's a different story.

I use it after washing the bike, I wouldn't use any product with road grime still on the bike. Use it everywhere except the windshield, works great. I recently contacted Pledge about how I used and like the product. Here is the response I got from the Customer Relationship Center.

I’m delighted to hear you’ve come to rely on Pledge® to keep your Harley looking its best. We strive to make quality products you can trust, and your feedback lets us know our efforts have paid off. I’ll happily be sharing your comments with our Pledge® team.

To keep your saddle bag supply stocked, I've sent a full-value coupon for your next purchase. Keep an eye out for it within the next week or two.

Thanks again for writing, Mike. Drive safe!

I did receive the coupon too.

FYI, I use Windex on my Powdercoated Wrinkle Finishes. After market powder not HD, it was instructed by the company that did the powdercoating. I'll be hitting up Windex for a freebie next!

I use this as well on my bike, cars etc. I buy it through Amazon. If you do a search there you will find it for about $5-$6 / 24oz. bottle if you get a case of 6 or 12, compared to around $10 at most local retailers.

I've been using it on my Harleys for over 20 years.

Pledge and other spray on furniture polishes are good for day to day dusting, provided you don't have any dirt on the paint. If you have dirty paint, you have to wash before you can shine. Pledge works best in warm to hot weather as the carrier evaporates when it hits a warm surface. Best results are obtained by using very sparingly. I use a clean cotton t-shirt. It works very nicely on chrome, aluminum, windscreens and all paint with the possible exception of those new denim looking paint jobs that Harley has been using the last few years. It might work in that application, I have just never seen it. Pledge is not a wax, nor is it a cleaner. A good paste wax should be put down on a clean bike every three months or so. Do not use on rubber or leather as other products work better. If you want a good day to day shine, Pledge works fine.
