Ok, listen, The bike is clean clean clean. It is stock vivid black. I sprayed a little on the clean front fairing and proceeded to polish it off...it's streaked like mad. It's requiring far too much pressure to remove and be good for the paint. I can wax and remove easier than this....much easier.

I'm not sure what is going on with mine. I mean it looked like it was all gone but today it was just greasy looking all over.

Yes, Pledge will streak. Firm, not hard, pressure to get the first polish complete. Don't worry about the few streaks you see. Finish doing the whole bike. I spray it directly on the bike. Others spray on the cloth. I've tried both ways and see no difference. When you have applied to the whole bike, use another clean cloth to wipe away the streaks. Yes it does seem to take a while to clear the streaks. But my gloss black Ultra says it's well worth the effort. I can do the whole bike in about 30 minutes.

Pledge is silicone, mineral oil, water, solvent, propellant and scent. More specifically:

Isoparaffinic hydrocarbon solvent, silicone, hydrocarbon propellant and water.

It is banned from my home however my wife doesn't quite understand what a nightmare it is to remove from furniture so it seems to keep sneaking back in (groan).

Anyone who's ever tried to refinish wood that's had Pledge on it knows what a disaster it is.

As far as bike "wax" is concerned - that's a bit more debatable but you won't find me using it!

I have used it on the seats of several different bikes. Works great on a seat. I personally wouldn't put it on a painted surface. JMO.

Lemon Pledge and the generic brands seem to work for me. I've been using them since the early 90's on my trucks, cars and bikes. Couldn't beat it for a quick ten minute "wax" job on my black Caddy or black Powerwagon back in the day.

Now I mainly use it on my KTM dirt bike and Harley. Oh, yeah, when the plastic on the KTM gets scratched up a bit, I use Mop & Glo on it.

Most times the simplest methods, that you actually don't hesitate to do, are better than the more laborious methods that you put off doing. A weekly or monthly Pledged bike or car looks great. I'm not that faithful at waxing my cars, even annually. My bike, I might wax a few times a year, but in between I use Pledge. If it's dirty, I wash it first, if it's just dusty, I use a California duster, but I use Pledge on a regular basis to keep the shine.

I use 100% cotton tees or towels for all of my washing and waxing.

works great on my vivid black, I just use it for final detail, not cleaning.

Here's the SC Johnson link to what's in Lemon Pledge:
http://www.whatsinsidescjohnson.com/...y.aspx?sid=SEM

I prefer to use a product with wax in it to protect oxydation of the paint.

I originally was pretty impressed with Pledge on my black ultra and even started using it on my light blue suv. started to notice though that a heck of a lot of dust would accumulate on the ultra and dirt was sticking to my truck. won't use pledge again and started using turtle wax black box. now that stuff is unbelievable for a hard as nails finish on a black bike. still have to remove deep scratches and swirls with a dual action buffer but once the first application is done it's no more time to spray the black box polish than to pledge it, but the finish is quite better imho.
