Default seat advice needed please!

Hey guys....

Well, I just signed the papers to trade in my '05 Deluxe for a '10 Road King. I'm really excited for the new ride! I didn't plan on doing it but my local dealer had a demo King with 1300 miles at a great price ($14,900). It even has the anti-lock breaks which is what made me pull the trigger.

My question is with the seat.... I can't sit flat footed with it now. I know my Deluxe was much lower but I can't get my heels down on the King with it set up stock. I have ordered the Harley reach seat to get an inch lower. At the dealer, the "fit shop" guy put the 1 inch pad under my feet and that felt much better. I'm concerned with the reach seat as it also puts you 2.5 inches closer. I don't want to feel like I'm sitting on the tank and it has me concerned. Do you think I'd be better off having the stock seat modified by Mean City (or something similar) to get a few inches lower? I really don't want to change the shocks and lower the suspension on the bike.

If I decide to have the stock seat modified and cancel the reach seat order.... I'll probably put that money towards getting the Heritage bars.... always liked those!

Any advise is appreciated!

I am 5'4"

Heritage Bars and reach seat worked perfect.

The other alternative are the lower shocks.

Congrads on your new ride.

I have a 2011 Road king classic seat for sale which is suppose to be lower then the 2010 seats. Also for suspension you can hit up Bitchin Baggers to shorten your stock shocks while it keeps a pretty close stock ride.

Corbin Hollywood solo. Great look and will sit you down a couple of inches. Mustang has some low profile seats like the DayTripper. C&C seats also has some great looking low profile seats. You need something low and narrow to compensate for the wider frame on the newer bikes.

ditto on the Corbin saddle...however, you might also consider their Classic solo. I'm 5'7" with a 28' inseam and I have their Classic Close Solo with a "nose job" - brings me a bit more forward for reduced reach and because of the narrowed/trimmed nose, it helped bring my feet closer to flat. The nice thing about Corbin is they will modify their saddles to better fit you...it's worth at least a phone call to them. If you're gonna spend the $$, I'd invest in a better saddle IMO. That said, I also went with an inch lower suspension....Progressive shocks - also improved ride over stock.

I'm probably the same height/inseam as 'slammd' and for now, I went with the 2011 FLHX seat (20% off) and the lowering shocks. Seat position is good and feet flat on ground. Ride good also. Busy doing a LOT of winter mods now but will probably put a Corbin Classic Solo on the bike later. Had one on my last ride and liked it.

I bought a used reach seat to continue
riding while my seat was being modded
by MCC, and I recommend them for sure.
I had the double memory foam, deluxe
heaters installed, and position moved
back as requested, and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!
I am sure you will get others as this is
a very subjective thing. I do know that
Allen and his guys seemed to do whatever
they could customer service wise to make
sure I was happy.

Another thing to note, Corbin saddles use very high quality leather, foam and base pans. The net result is also a very comfortable ride (think not only your butt, back also), particularly if you spend long days in the saddle. The saddle I have now has been on three different bikes....(read: "...your gonna have to pry it out of my dead cold fingers....').....and no, I don't work for or sell Corbin products ;o)
