bad gasoline
Why not just drain the tank and start from scratch with some good gas? This will keep more junk from getting into your filter and your engine. Just follow the procedure in your service manual.
For me, that would depend on how bad the gas is. I've bought bad gas that made my RK's engine miss slightly, and I just ran it out and refilled somewhere else. That happened twice from two gas stations in the same small town, so I don't stop there any more.
That would be the Fuel Shell

I would venture to say most bad fuel stems from buying while or just after a fuel truck has made a delivery. That stirs up whatever might be in the bottom of the holding tank. Normally I'm not in a position to drain and refill from another dealer, but do run as much of the fuel out before I will refill. I have as of yet to get a bad tank of fuel on my scoot. But I do keep abreast of when the local station gets their fuel deliveries. I have never purchased fuel from a station where their is a fuel truck still on their property. Promise that.

I had the fuel shell problem. I thought it was bad gas to begin with because I had just filled up before the bike started spitting and sputtering. I limped to the next gas station, bought a little pump deal from the Dollar General, sucked the gas out and refilled the tank.
Needless to say, that didn't help. Had to limp the bike about 40 more miles to a Harley shop.
Town and Country HD in Cement City took care of me. They brought down a late model 08 and pulled the shell out of it. Had me back on the road in a couple hours.
