Default Good price?

I contacted R&R Cycles in Manchester, NH and got a ballpark figure of about $1525 for Andrews 26G cams, adjustable pushrods, new lifters, installation, gaskets and oil change, etc. They are about the best Indy that is closest to me and I don't think I would be comfortable attempting this myself. I'm thinking on doing it in the 07 season.

Andrews kit : $535 shipped.
Adjustables : No more than $125.00
Gaskets and oil: $30
HD B lifters $120 at most.

About 800 bucks in parts. Their labor at $700+ is way high, IMO.

BTW, you likely don't need lifters unless yours have a lot of miles on them. Under 30k and I'd stick with the current ones.

Don't be afraid of the job. If you can read and turn a wrench, you can easily do the install yourself.

Well, I have the service manual and I have been doing all the upgrades and servicing on my bike and I am pretty handy, but just a little skiddish about cracking open the chest and getting right into it. Maybe I'll study up and think about giving it a shot. Don't you have to like freeze and bake the cams to get them out or something like that?[sm=confused06.gif][sm=insomnia.gif]

Well, I got to thinking about what you guys said and I'm going to give it a shot at the beginning of next season. Worst case scenario is I have parts all over garage floor and run in on the computer and yell, "HELP!" So, other than the oil change stuff I should only need the cam kit itself, gasket kit, adjustable pushrods and possibly lifters correct? Where can I get the best price on the cams? Should I just plan on changing the lifters anyway?

pm me and i'll give you my cell...meantime, read in the DIY section...call Steve at www.GMRPerformance.com ...he has a good kit and it'll run right...or Big Boyz will also steer you in the right direction....but do call and deal with one shop for everything rather than hodgepodge it....collect parts, ask questions...when its time, call if you need...i love doin this stuff and its really not hard at all...harley engines are crude compared to an SBC or equivalent
