Has any one used the LA choppers lowering kit? It looks like it spreads the shocks out a little when it lowers it about 1". On a Ultra with the air shocks is the ride worse? or does not change it at all ? Can you adjust the ride with the air shocks if it gets bad? Can you use the lowering kit and then put on lowering shocks ? Or would that make the bike to low and cause more issue's ?
I used the Road6Customs which go on about the same way. I love them. I can sit flat footed now and the ride changed NONE but I only went 1" lower. 2" might produce a rougher ride. Many on here will claim you must buy new shocks but I don't believe that is needed. Although, I have never tried the other shocks and they may produce an awesome ride. How low you can go will depend on the year of your bike. I think the newer (09+) can go a little lower than older models. It is a matter of bottoming out and how low you can go without tearing up the wiring. If your only going 1", you'll be fine.
I am looking to go at least 1" and would like to change the shocks also to a 12" most likely a Progressive Brand like a 412 NON-AIR ? Did you lower the front also? I heard if you do it will make the bike handle much better being on the same level fron and rear and also help with the bike feeling a little lower (Front-rear ) ? The shocks would have to be 11" and that may mean a 2" drop ? Has anyone had an Ultra 2010 at a 2" drop before ?
I cannot speak about those brands but I did use White Bros. 1" lowering kit years ago. One advantage is the ride didn't change any. Shorter shocks will stiffen it up some. Just increase air pressure in rear shocks when carrying a passenger to compensate for increased suspension travel and compression. Your suppose to do this anyway, but it's a must with a lowering kit or you will bottom out the suspension.
My wife's 08 Ultra is lowered both ends, I used burly brand for the rear and HD front end, it rides good but does bottoms out the rear if shocks air is below 25. I don't know about your bike but I was unable to use lowering shocks+ lowering blocks due to rear fender clearance. Lowering the front end is must if you want lower the seat height. You will sacrifice riding quality due to limited ground clearance but again depends how you ride and what is important for you.
Has anyone used Progressive lowering springs on the front? About 1" is all I would go.
I dropped my front with that spring kit. Rides good. Check your front fender clearance, you might need to drop the fender also. I did just to make sure I didn't have problems.
