I did yard work this morning in shorts and a T-Shirt. It was in the mid 70's by 10:00am. I went for a ride this afternoon. It was a good day to be out on the road. A lot of bike out today in SoCal.

I'm jealous...

Got some more work done on my project and took a bunch of pictures to show my work.
Here is the beginning of the right side. Lower support removed and the frame unchanged.

I taped off the fender to reduce any scratching

Frame cut as per the directions

I cut the lower supprt as directed...used to be two holes at the top. Here they are cut and in place to be bolted up.

Seeing I got a deal on these from an attic sale, the metal brackets that would have come in the kit were missing...now worries as I would of had to mod them and I rather get the deal in $. So here are the brackets that I made

When it was all together the ride side was pushing the fender towards the wheel reducing the minimal clearance between the fender and tire so I "thinned" the bracket I made for the ride side to retifiy this problem. After the "thinning" the tire to fender clearance was pretty close to even on both sides.
Here is my poorman mill to thin up the bracket. clamp, drill, move, clamp, drill, move, clamp, drill, move, etc. Slow and tedious but gets the job done well.

And the results of the milling

Here is the bracket in place (before the right one was milled)

I had to cut the rear docking kit bracket to match the cut I made in the lower supports. I did not want to rely on the 1/4" rear saddle bag bracket bolt to keep the docking hardware bracket in place from rotating, so I made beefier connector bars running from the rear to front docking kits. Here all that is in place

Here is the sissy bar in place to be sure all lines up properly and will work

Time for the filler panels. First I had the cut the lower flap that goes from the top of the shock to the rear saddlebag cover latch access to allow for the attachments to get to the docking stations. Then I placed the panels roughly in place and had to cut recesses for the bars I made that run from front to rear docking points. Here is the left panel in place

And the left filler with bag in place, scribed and sanded to fit

And a rear shot of both in place

A couple of minor things to touch up then pull it all apart for paint and powdercoat. Next up is the new license plate relocation bracket for under the left bag.
