A few weeks ago I fired up the Ultra and it coughed and sputtered and then backfired and died. I have not been able to get it started since. When I flip the run button the fuel pump does not seem to kick on. Any ideas on what the problem might be?
I am going to tear into it this weekend and I'll check out the fuses and relays. seems odd that it would backfire and die and then fuel pump seems disabled....might be a safety feature....we'll see.
have you got enough fuel in the tank? it's very likely that it's something as simple as a fuel pump relay or fuse, i'm not sure which it uses, but checking the dumb stuff first usually cures a problem without having to dig any deeper. good luck with getting her running.
Harley had a problem back a few years ago with the main circuit breaker going bad. It happened to me on my 06 Ultra. The bike behaved similarly to what you described. Also there was no power to anything else. Turned out the breaker was not large enough to handle the load and eventually, the breaker broke.

Yes, they upped it from a 40 AMP circuit breaker to a 50 AMP, now they use a MAXI fuse for the system. Good thinking, but it seams he still has power to everything but possiblt the fuel pump?
I have power to everything and the bike will turn over but will not start. Looks like it will have to wait until later in the week. I'll start with the fuses and see if that is the issue. Makes sense since the fuel pump seems unresponsive when I flip the switch into the run position. The power commander powers up when I flip the switch. Surely nothing to major.
Make sure the Engine Kill Switch is in the "Run" position?
I've accidentally hit this switch a few times. The give-a-way is when I go to start the bike again . . . . the Fuel Pump doesn't run (for it's 5/10 second cycle) when I turn the Main Switch to the "On" position. Everything else works and the starter motor will crank the engine, which is why the first time it happened to me I did a real WTF!
