Beautiful place and great flats fishing. Inexpensive = Tent in a rest area. The dust is expensive over there. A must see. Make sure you ride up to Captiva Island & sorry I can be of no better help other than to wish you a great time.
Renting a bike in Tampa and want to stay 2 nights on Sanabel Island. Any suggestions on where to stay on island that isnt too expensive?
I'm not familiar with hotels on the island, its a day trip for me but i would suggest googling Sanibel hotels. You might get off cheaper by staying a few miles off the island.
Ft Myers Beach. Light House Resort. Great tiki bar. Good food and a fun place. Many locals and tourists alike. Walk across the street to Nemo's on the Beach and enjoy the sunset and great food at fair prices. I'm a local so I know where to go for value. Ride to Sanibel/Captiva and lunch at the Bubble Room.
15 years ago when we went, it was then "upscale" FL area but we were able to rent a nice condo for the week about same cost as staying at a Hampton most areas. ($100 night +/-) Not sure if they do condo's for 2 days but depends on how busy they are I imagine. Sorry I don't remember more, like the big resort on the southern tip but google is probably loaded with sanibel info.
It depends when you are going, nothing is really cheap but you can do OK. Check the internet, many motels on the beach.
Bartender at the Sanibel Grill rides, good food there. Lazy Flamingo and Doc Ford's have decent food and cold beer. You can also ride over to Ft Myers beach, many bars.
If you are going in the winter, then nothing is cheap on Sanibel. Your best bet is Googling "discount Hotels Sanibel" Find something along the lines of what you like, then calling at the last minute to try to work a deal. As mentioned before Ft. Myers Beach may be more cost effective, and definitely more biker friendly.
While you are there take a ride out to Bokeelia / St James City. There is a nice restaurant in St. James. Sorry but I can't remember the name of it. Won't be hard to find though as there is not much there. Matlacha is nice as well. Check out Miceli's Restaurant for Italian.
You guys just cost me money. Never been to Sanibel Island, but Googled it when I saw this thread. Looks like a nice ride for me, so as soon as it's warm enough to spend some time on the beach I'm on my way.
