to adjust your clutch cable u loosen the the jamb nut and back the lower sleeve out and it will take the slack out of the cable. u check the gap between the cable at the lever where the outter sleeve on the cable i use a dime to check the clearance between the outter sleeve of the cable and the clutch lever and that should do it. this is how i do it and it works very well .

so i have the inline adjustment screwed out about as far as i can go,
so from watching the video it seems like i should loosen the inline adjustment to all the way loose, and then take derby cover off and make that adjustment. it just seems like if i make the inline adjustment all the way loose it is gonna make my cable real loose, so is the adjustment behind the derby cover gonna eat up ll that slack?

im gonna try this on my lunch

just went home and i adjusted the inline adjustment all the way in where there was no thread showing at all. i then took derby cover off and made adjustment just like in the video. put that all back together, went to the inline adjustment and started threading it out. i went about all the way out on the adjustment . started it up and its doing the same thing it wont let the bike take off.
its like the clutch is stuck or something

I need Help!

here's another video from that series:

http://www.ehow.com/video_2330184_ad...utch-pack.html

this is done at room temperature

you don't have to use a lift, on the jiffy stand will be fine

get the bike in a high gear so that the clutch basket won't rotate when you are trying to adjust it-

do not loosen the cable adjuster completely slack, you want just a little tension as you will need to work the lever to set the ball/ramp under the right side cover.

after lightly bottoming out the adjuster ( with the allen driver) you turn it back anywhere from a half to full turn---1/2 as he does in the viddy is fine.
You need to retain this setting while tightening the locknut which can be fiddly, but it is essential- and you do need to get it quite tight, I have had the locknut back off, so I use some locktite.

work the lever a few times, to set the ball.

you then adjust the inline, so that you can pull the cable out of the lever housing about a dimes width.

make sure that you have proper primary lube and level.

I usually do not have to replace the O ring on the derby cover- you may or may not depending on if your cover is warped.

the internet is a great resource- but having the shop manual at hand can save a world of frustration-

Mike

never had to adjust beyond the cable meaning i never had to adjust in the dreby cover. all i did was back the inline out and watched how the cable at the perch tightned up to get the slack out at the perch only u use a dime to measure the cable at the perch and u should be ok. if u have to go to the derby then a manuel should be used if your not familiar this procedure.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

went home on lunch and got hcc on the phone(brian was very great to deal w/) and we went thru the whole process
but any way when the bars were shipped they had a green dowel in the clutch perch, but the clutch cable came with a white dowel so i used the white dowel.
that was my whole problem brian had me switch over to the green doweland it has like a tab that spaces the clutch over a little
it totally solved the problem

thanks to everyone for helping out and thanks to hill country(brian) for all the help!

tonite i try to run the brake line im sure itll b a new thread!
