Very easy and quick to install. Just follow the instructions.

Easy if its a 2009 and newer bike. If its a 2008 or older it is a huge pain in the @ss!

I second this post. This really ticked me off. Here is the issue (BTW I have a '09 RKC - I'm not sure if other models / years are affected). Installing the docking hardware (which as others have mentioned is a breeze), causes the leather bags to hit mounts of the docking hardware kit. A picture will help:

This damages the bags as the screws dig into the leather. In HD's defense, they make a mod to the hinge of the saddle bags which limits the travel. I tried installing it and got frustrated and gave up.

I came up with another solution; I purchased and installed the magnetic chrome covers.

The bags still hit, but the ends of the magnetic covers are smooth and no longer damage the leather. Problem solved ... plus the covers looks good when the docking hardware is not in use.

When I install the backrest (into the docking hardware) the bags hit the side of the backrest before hitting the (now uncovered) mounts. A non issue as it does not damage the bags either.

My and 4 pictures ...

Real easy to put on. I did mine in 15 minutes. Problem I have is the qd sissy bar doesn't fit right. This is the 3rd one I have tried. It slightly damaged my Corbin seat.

I'm Glad I am not the only person who had this problem on the 08 and earlier.......Single most ambiguous set of instructions iv'e ever read.

LOL. An alternative to the magnetic covers, you can buy the hinge stop kit listed in the parts catalog. I bought it, put it on one side (requires drilling out rivets and lots of alignment, huge pain in *** for one person), and didn't bother to do the other as you'll only be able to open the lid up about 45*. I'll just be careful, and I was planning on buying the covers as well.
