Default Tunes on a King

Sometimes I like music on the ride. When I do, I use an iPod and earbuds.

Been thinking about adding music, and considering all options.

Not sure I want to add a fairing, unless it's detachable. Then there's the expense - not sure I want music bad enough to spend 2 grand.

I am planning on adding vented lowers. Has anyone installed speakers in the glove boxes? Is there room for an amp there too?

Really don't want to give up much (if any) space in my bags.

Maybe just a really nice pair of noise-canceling earbuds and a remote for the iPod?

I've read thru a few posts, just looking for ideas.

I've been looking at HD's Boom Audio windshield mount speakers for my King but not sure that I want to give up the windshield bag I have. http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US

I've read great things about them though.

I've heard good things about the Shark Radio on other forums. Haven't got any direct experience myself, but fairly cheap so you might give it a look.

What BT headphones are you using.

Do they cut out at all?

How about battery life... in the BT connection and in your MP3 player?

I was hoping to get power from the bike and not have to go thru batteries like crazy.

I think the head phones are a good idea. I have a 2010 EGC and never use the radio. I think the guys going down the road with the radio blasting is quite annoying. It's kinda like, hey look at me, I have a radio on my motorcycle and I'm cool. Plus it sounds like $hit going down the road anyway. I might try the BT headphones but mostly I like hearing the sound of my bike and all the noises around me, like the screeching tires from the A hole in the car that's about to hit you because he has his radio blasting and he is texting at the same time. I think and Ipod with head phones is a good idea unless you want everyone else to hear it.

prior to the fairing I used the Plantronics Voyager Bluetooth Headphones via my Blackberry worked very good, no wires, and would last about an 1.5 hours.

I generally ride with ear plugs. They reduce fatigue, my ears do not ring after a substantial ride and I save what is left of my hearing. Recently I moved from commercial ear plugs to Custom fitted ear plugs from an Ear/Hearing specialist. I like these new Custom ear plugs and am in the process of ording the Custom fitted ear plugs with micro speakers (esentially custom custom fitted earbuds).

I love listening to music while I ride but do not want to change the basic look of my RKC. I also am going to have ear plugs in my ear during all rides and therfore it is no additional effort to have ear plugs with speakers.

Best

I really like having satellite radio on my bike. I don't have it in my car, but I've got it on my bike. I take the fairing off from time to time, especially in late July and August, but really I've gotten to where I prefer the looks of my bike better with the fairing on it.

Hey KCFLHTC I'm with you on this one. Always thought headphones especially ear buds exclude way too much highway/bike/surrounding noise; the kind of highway/bike/surrounding noise that has kept me alive on 2 wheels for the last 40 years. Does anybody else share my concern or am I just being overly cautious. Is "0verly cautious" on 2 wheels really possible?
