It's really quite simple and doesn't involve putting down H.O.G. on what they provide or don't provide. If you're NOT into group riding or group events on a local, state/provincial or national level.....then don't renew. If you enjoy the comraderie of other riders and like to get involved in group riding events, then renew. Simple.
If your cell phone is with At&t you can get a nice discount each month. More than pays for the membership for me and the wife. Haven't heard too many good reports on towing but as others have said it allowed me to meet some great folks in the local chapter. Our dealer also gives 10% off to members. I stay with it.
Well, I'll be dipped in ****! Here I've been with ATT/Cingular for years and could have been getting a discount through HOG! I was seriously considering not renewing, but after logging on and reading about it, I just ponied up the $45 again. The only reason I was thinking of renewing was to keep getting a 10% discount at my local dealer, but I don't buy much from them.
I was also pissed to hear they canceled the Fly n Ride program, anyone hear their reasoning on that? Thanks for the info on the cell bill savings. At 17%, I should save about $15/month
Only magazine I read cover to cover. Getting a 10% more than pays for itself but I as I travel and stop at every HD shop I come across, as long as they honor a national HOG card I get my moneys worth and then some.
I guess I missed that they cancelled the fly and ride program. Used it last year and saved a bundle. I get either At&t or Verizon discounts through work, so looks like I will not renew HOG either. No incentive to join, its just a club. It's not like ABATE or NRA or SCI where they are advocating for causes that I believe in.
So you have heard that the Fly N Ride is getting canceled too? Bummer I did use that several times on trips to the mainland. A couple of weeks rentals really paid for memberships for my wife and I.

I just went to the Members Only HOG web site. The HOG Fly & Ride Program is still in effect. The following was posted on the Fly & Ride page with this link. It is now listed on the Harley web site under "Try a Bike".
To receive your exclusive H.O.G./Authorized Rentals pin please call 1-800-CLUBHOG (1-800-258-2464).
(To be eligible for the pin, you must have rented a Harley-Davidson through an Authorized H-D Rental location.)

I just got off the phone with H.O.G. about Fly and rRde. The very nice lady explained the program was "in transition" but for now:
1. There are no discounts for H.O.G. members (unless the individual dealer wants to give you one).
2. There are no special benefits for renting as a H.O.G. member (unless the individual dealer wants to give you one).
She did say they were working on some benefits. But for now, there effectively is no Fly and Ride. Except maybe they'll send you a pin if you rent.
Sad, because I'm travelling next month and I can rent a Triumph cheaper than a Harley. And since I own a Harley, I'll probably give my $$$ to Triumph just for the change of pace.
