If your cell phone is with At&t you can get a nice discount each month. More than pays for the membership for me and the wife. Haven't heard too many good reports on towing but as others have said it allowed me to meet some great folks in the local chapter. Our dealer also gives 10% off to members. I stay with it.
in order to use some of the advantages that the hog membership offers, you'd have to be willing to participate in their stuff. i live 70 miles from the nearest dealership, and i'm not into hanging out with crowds. that's why i didn't renew my membership that came with my bike when i bought it in 08. i prefer riding alone, so the whole hog membership didn't do anything for me. a new patch every year? methinks not, thanks anyway.
I ride with 2 different groups, one is a bunch of guys I either do, or used to work with. Good company but alot of the conversation inevitably revolves around work.
The second is my local chapter which has members from all walks of life, from a local mayor, police officers, pilots, right through to the retired and unemployed folks. They are also fun to be with, no social climbing here the common interest in Harleys sees to that.
When I first walked through the door at a chapter night the sight of all that black leather and patches made me wonder what I was getting into, but was soon made to feel welcome and have enjoyed the ride outs, rallies and supporting the local charity events that the chapter is invited to.
I for one will be renewing my membership, friends are good to have.
Been a member a long time, did not renew last time. I never got anything for my money but the magazines, then they consolidated them. My insurance tows if needed, what else is there to justify the cost?
It's really quite simple and doesn't involve putting down H.O.G. on what they provide or don't provide. If you're NOT into group riding or group events on a local, state/provincial or national level.....then don't renew. If you enjoy the comraderie of other riders and like to get involved in group riding events, then renew. Simple.
